Chapter 28
**Archer**
Slowly sliding over to her, I make myself stop at the edge of the bed and not move any further forward. I can tell just by the look on her face that she is confused out of her mind as to what's happening
"What the hell is going on?" she asks, as she attempts to sit up in her spot. She only makes it halfway before her face transforms into one of pain and hurt as she grips her middle and falls backwards into the pillow with a short scream.
"Raffe?" Neville and Kat both say and at the same time run to her side. Kat immediately starts fluffing up her pillows and Neville takes her hand off her stomach and restrains it by her side to stop her from moving any further and causing herself any more pain.
This all happens while I am frozen to my spot, this all happens while Neville watches Raffe with so much love and pain, Reins gaze never leaving her own, and Kats fingers never leaving Raffes face as she tries to calm her down.
And I just stand there, finally not the centre of attention anymore, finally able to observe my surroundings for the first time without any pressure.
I glance around the room but by now the screaming has stopped and I can feel her eyes glued to me, they're piercing my very soul and I can't just tell by the way she is looking at me, that some of that last night she was conscious coming back.
"How long have I been here?" she gasps. I felt the strength leave my body as I look up and at her, she directs her question towards me but it's Rein who answers.
"Almost 10 days" he whispers to her and her water filled gaze snaps to him, focusing on what he just said.
"How?" she asks looking desperately around the room.
"Don't you remember?" Rein asks
"No"
"Raffe you fell down the stairs" he says taking up her hand
"Why?"
"You were having an argument with Archer" he sighs looking at me like this was all my fault
"What about?-" her face flames red and then her eyes go hard with anger. Looks like my times up.
"Everybody out. Now" she says glaring daggers at me, I go to turn and exit this room to avoid any conflict so soon after she has just woken up, but am stopped by her voice which has gone ice cold; devoid of any emotion "Archer stays" she says to nobody in particular.
They all start to leave, Neville gets to the door last and shoots me a 'you better not stuff this up' look and leaves.
Leaving me and Raffe alone. In a room. Together.
These situations never work out well.
"Why didn't you tell me?" she asks me sounding annoyed, which is weird considering I was expecting anger and for her to verbally rip my head off.
"Because I didn't think I had to, and your parents said that they didn't want to put any pressure on you" I think carefully about each word as I say it, so as to not insult her any further
But apparently that theory went to the gutter "How in the hell would telling me put pressure on me?" she shouts.
"How the hell would I know?" I shout back throwing my hands up
"You're the one making plans with my family behind my back" she counters jabbing a harsh finger in my direction.
"I didn't even know you then, how was I supposed to know what was going on with you?" I ask jokingly. I really hope she wasn't being serious and this was some kind of joke... she couldn't seriously be blaming me when I didn't even know her.
