(Chapter 9) Aftershock

"What do you m-"

"Th....the Aurora..." James eventually spoke.

"It's gone..."

James watched the other guy stand and begin pacing around the top of his Lifepod.

The man stopped pacing after about 5 minutes and turned to James noticing that he was still staring at the Aurora wreckage.

"Uhh, you okay?"

No response.

"Helloooo?"

This time James looked up.

"Huh what?"

"I asked if you were okay."

"Uh y-yeah, im fine"

It was then that the man noticed James had a large gash on his left arm.

"Holy- What happened to you?!"

"What?"

"You've got a really big bite on your arm!"

"Oh yea, I forgot about that"

"It doesn't hurt?"

"No I can barely feel it."

Squishy opened the hatch and climbed in, returning a few minutes later with medical supplies for James, handing them to the stranger.

"Uh....thank you?"

Squishy rolled their eyes and waved the man off, the man was more focused on getting the medical supplies onto James' arm.

James hissed as he felt a big sting on his arm.

"Sorry."

"No, its fine it's just pain, Im used to it by now."

James let out a small chuckle.

"Can I ask you a question?"
James spoke.

"Uh, sure"

"Why did you keep swimming away from me when I saw you in the creepvine forest?"

"Oh right, sorry about that, I thought you were one of the Aurora's higher-ups, and I didn't want to go back to alterra."

"I guess I can understand that, alterra hasn't really been kind to me either..."

"We really need better jobs huh?"

James laughs.

"Yeah, we do."

James stands up and looks at his bandaged arm.

"Hey uh, I know this might be a little weird but could you help me to my base?"

"Wait you have a base?"

"Uh yeah! Do you not have a habitat builder?"

"No...most of my blueprints were corrupted so I've had to re-scan everything."
