Take a shot every time you read the word "piano" lmao

It was no secret that the Pentiss family had money, thus fore, a nice house was the bare minimum to use their money. Emily was never one to show off her money however, only after JJ insisted that more than 2 towels and a hair dryer was the least they could do. Overtime, Emily became more open with flaunting her money, of course with the encouragement of JJ. *Ok this definitely sounds like JJ is using Emily for her money but that's not true, JJ just wants her to open up and accept that she has money* This led to the married couple buying a piano in their front room. Did it take weeks to discipline Henry because he kept smashing all the keys? Yes it did, but it was all worth the beauty of the room.? Yes.

JJ knew Emily's hatred for the piano, however, knowing they had more than enough money for the piano in their joint savings account, so she made the purchase.... without the brunette's knowledge. To say Emily was pissed... was an understatement. Emily was livid, about the price? Nope. About what Henry would do to it? Nope again. About how Emilys despises the piano and would burn every single one if she could? Yup.

The couple argued for hours about how JJ went behind her just to 'get her pissed'. In actuality JJ wanted Emily to learn to love the things she hates... and thought it would be great for Henry to learn.
"Jennifer, what don't you understand about 'I don't like playing them', and you totally went behind my back on this one, I've told you this before!" Emily shouted across the room. Thankfully Henry was having a slumber party at his Jacks house so he wasn't there to hear his mommies yell at one another.
"Babe I was only trying to help you see it from another perspective! If you constantly live hating things, they are only going to pull you back." JJ sympathized with her.
"Jennifer, I don't need your help!" Emily snapped back, storming out the room.

This argument only went on for about 2 days. The couple had a rule: After 3 days of arguing and giving each other the silent treatment, they would come together and work it out for Henry's sake.
Both Emily and JJ could see where they went wrong. Emily shouldn't have snapped at her, and JJ should have consulted with Emily's thoughts before making the purchase.

The couple had put their son to bed and quietly completed their nighttime routine, skipping the small talk and getting straight in bed. Emily was the first to break the silence,
"I'm sorry I snapped, I do need your help. Although I still think you should have talked with me before buying a 3 grand piano, that's no small purchase Jay"
"I'm sorry, I just hate seeing you so upset because of the things your mother made you do. I thought that by buying a piano, you could learn to love it and maybe even pass it on to Henry when he gets older"

Ah yes, the reason behind all of Emily's hatred was her mother. When Emily was just a little girl, her mother made it her mission to get Emily to play the piano and sing for her company at her expensive gatherings. Thus forth, Emily hated playing the piano for her mother, and soon started to hate playing piano. The girl had a lovely voice, however, her mother struck again and managed to take the love of singing away from the young brunette.

"How about this, I give it a try once or twice a week and see if I can pick it back up. Then we can go from there" Emily whispers as she cuddles her wife.
"That would be really nice Em, I love you"
"I love you too"

Over the next month or 2, Emily began to play for herself and only herself. No nagging mother or mean music instructor who would profusely yell at her for getting a key wrong. Just her. This is just how Emily knew JJ was the one for her. JJ somehow always knew what Emily needed, it was just the convincing that was challenging.

JJ's POV

Emily and I took separate cars to work today because I had to pick up my sweet little boy from Will's house. Emily drove separately to start dinner so the 2 blondes would not have to be hungry all evening to eat. When JJ got home with an energetic Henry in her arms she froze. She could hear the piano playing in the front room. She quickly, but quietly, told Henry to go play in his room for the evening while she snuck down the hall to the source of the music. Emily couldn't see JJ in the doorway as she continued to play. Emily ended the tune, her shoulder relaxing and a smile creeping on her face. She was enjoying playing the piano.

JJ walked in the room and sat next to her wife on the bench. Emily's eyes shot up but quickly relaxed at the sight of her wife, scooting over so she could make room for JJ. The blonde was the first to speak,
"You should play our song," She whispered.
"You sing and ill play" She smiled

Emily and JJ had one song. The song that was there for them from the very beginning. They had danced in the rain, slept, showered, and drove to the tune of this song. Emily started to softly press the keys as the love of her life sang the song,

*JJ singing*
Oh thinkin' about all our younger years
There was only you and me
We were young and wild and free
Now nothing can take you away from me
We've been down that road before
But that's over now
You keep me comin' back for more
And baby you're all that I want
When you're lyin' here in my arms
I'm findin' it hard to believe
We're in heaven
And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart

By now they were both crying, no sad tears though, happy tears.
"Thank you" Emily whispered,
"For what, love?" she questioned
"For helping me love music again"

Emily had begun to teach her son the piano. With both of them being stubborn as hell, to say it was challenging was an understatement. After a couple of weeks though, the young boy began to thrive while playing. Emily, being the amazing mama she was, made it her personal mission to not pressure Henry into playing the piano; the last thing she wanted to do was pressure her son just like her mother had done to her. However, Henry practically begged Emily to teach her to play more songs. Emily loved teaching her son, but only after he's done all his chores and been a good boy.

Emily's biggest fear was turning into her mother. Whenever her temper got too much or she was too strict on her son, she always stopped and immediately apologized. One of the infinite reasons Emily loves JJ is that she sees the good in her no matter what. JJ is patient and understanding towards her wife, truly the best person for her. Because of this, Emily knew she would never be her mother.

Let me know what you think! I might be able to get another chapter out before Tuesday so stay tuned. Have a good day!
