The most beautiful fig may contain a worm.
~ African proverbWhen I entered the school, I was shocked to see that Xavier was not waiting for me.
I was so used to finding him at the same spot that when he wasn't there I couldn't help but worry.
Was he tired of pretending?
I now did not know what to do. He was the one keeping me company always and now that he was not there I wondered if I needed to enter my class early.
The fact that I needed to enter my class early did frighten me because I did not like the idea of being alone with nothing to do.
Despite that, I decided that I would try to study during the time I was alone in class. So I went to my locker to get one of my books.
I looked at the contents of my locker, the locker was very dirty and many of my books were not packed properly, which made me realize the need to clean it.
So instead of studying, I decided to clean up my locker; making sure to clean up all the dirt.
I also started to separate my books and arrange them well.
Just when I was caught up in cleaning my locker, someone began to bang on my locker making me stop what I was doing.
"Luna, the harlot. How are you?" Oh no, not Kassy! She was the last person I wanted to see at that time. I thought I managed to get rid of her for some days with that suspension.
"I see that you do not respond to greetings but I guess you don't have to." She said defending herself.
"Why are you here?" I said rudely. I never wanted to talk to her because I was still angry with her for hitting me.
"Whoa! The harlot grew wings." I hated that she was calling me that and I was not in the mood of starting a fight so I shut my locker hard causing the door to close with a loud sound.
I began to walk away from her. I was not going to talk to her. It would just be a waste of my time.
"Wait, Luna, I want to talk to you." She said in such a kind way that I couldn't help but be shocked.
"About what?" I asked because it seemed so important that she was being kind to me.
"About Tristan," she said," I just hope you haven't been trying to get him because no matter what you do you can not."
"I have a boyfriend, so I do not need to get Tristan," I said with an evil smirk on my face.
"Oh, I have heard about your fake boyfriend. When will you stop being a harlot Luna?" She said laughing loudly.
Her laughter started to draw attention because a crowd of students started to gather around us, watching what was happening.
She was right, he was not my boyfriend and what puzzled me was how she knew.
Even though she knew, I needed to find a way to defend myself.
"Xavier is my boyfriend. What makes you think he isn't?" I shouted, clenching my fists.
"Everyone says you guys never kiss and no one can see the connection between you two."
I hated the fact that my life was being a discussion among the pupils in school. Everyone was right about Xavier. He was not my boyfriend but there was no way I was going to admit that.
"I knew it. It is so sad how desperate you are, you little harlot." She said laughing causing everyone watching us to laugh in unison.
"I would really appreciate it if you stopped calling my girlfriend a harlot," Xavier said abruptly. I never knew he was watching us till he came in to defend me.
He stood next to me and held my hand.
"Oh, here comes the fake boyfriend. How are you gonna help her now?" Kassy said causing everyone to laugh again.
At that point, I was scared because I had no idea what to do next. How was I going to lie now? Everyone knew what was happening already.
Xavier seemed confident because he had no look of worry written on his face." I am her boyfriend and I don't know why you guys are so interested in our relationship."
"I am not at all interested in your crappy relationship. I just want to make sure that this harlot does not go after my boyfriend."
"I said it once and I will say it twice. Please stop calling her that!" Xavier hollered. He seemed angrier than I was about the name-calling." As you can see Luna has no interest in your crappy boyfriend."
"Why don't you let her speak for herself?" She said causing my heart to beat more than before.
Everyone was looking at me expecting me to agree with Xavier's words.
"I have no interest in Tristan. I like Xavier now." I said defending myself. I came out more confident than I expected to sound.
"Now won't you guys make us believe you by kissing?" Someone in the crowd said causing me to raise my brow.
"Yeah, you guys are a couple you should kiss. So that we can all believe you." Kassy added on.
Kiss?
My heart thumped more in fear. Maybe that was the right time to admit that it was all an act.
"This is---" I immediately got cut off by Xavier as he placed his lips on mine. His lips moved against mine with such softness that I felt myself melt away.
The moment I realized that he was kissing me, I had to follow along and kiss him back.
All I could feel was warmth as it suddenly engulfed me making all my senses get unfurled.
The warmth made my stomach feel all jumpy and funny. My heart skipped as the heat rose from my stomach to my chest.
I was too caught up in the kiss that I wasn't able to think well enough. Even though everyone was watching us, I felt like we were the only ones in the room.
Xavier immediately drew away causing everyone to clap and hearing the sound of the applause reminded me that everyone was watching.
Why they were clapping I had no idea but I totally felt uncomfortable knowing I just did that in front of everyone.
"Okay, we believe you. That kiss was very passionate. You guys must really like each other." Kassy said shocking me.
I don't know what caused that but I was angry with myself for doing that. I wondered why Xavier would make such a move on me when we never agreed to.
At that point, I was too shy to even want to be around him. What happened between us was not meant to happen.
I walked away from the crowd and Xavier because I wanted to be alone, just so that I could understand what had just happened.
I walked into the classroom and took a seat. There was no way I was going to face Xavier.
Even when the teacher commenced lessons, I was not able to focus. My mind was on what had just happened.
When the siren rang, I came out of class and made sure to avoid Xavier for the whole day.
******
Now Luna is acting weird. What do you think is causing her to act this way?I am glad they kissed though lol.
