This is a short chapter I know, I didn't want to dive super deep into Lycoris' backstory as more will come about her and Cione in future chapters. I struggled to find where I wanted this chapter to fall between other chapters though and decided it best fit here. Next part is a longer spicy one though so for those that are here purely for the smut, it's coming soon!

"Lycoris, Lycoris wake up!" her small body was shaking frantically in her sleep, tears were streaming down her face as she kicked and screamed. Your arms wrapped around her trying to hug her hoping it would calm her down or wake her up from her deep sleep. "Cione! Cione please help!" Squeezing her tighter you finally got a good grasp on her but that only made the thrashing and kicking harder. "What's going on?" Cione was running clearly on adrenaline as he basically busted the door down. "It's happening again!" Rushing over Cione scooped her up, quickly containing her.

As he cradled her carefully she began to wake up, tears still flowed from her eyes as she looked around the room "it happened again... I'm sorry.. please.." "We're not going to seal you" cutting her off you sat up in bed and rested your head in your hands. A small thud echoed as Cione set Lycoris down. Although small, her crystal leg made her heavier then expected. "Lycoris..." you kept your head in your hands while taking in a deep breath. The room was silent making it harder for you to find your words as your nerves began eating you alive. Taking in a deep breath you chocked out "Lycoris.. what did they do to you?"

Shaking her head no she turned to walk out of the room only for Cinder to stop her at the doorway "they sealed me.."  Her flowers that filled the room grew dull, void of their once beautiful pink color. "I know they sealed you... but.. what did they do to make you..." the flowers began to wilt making you lose your train of thought. Cione placed his hand on her shoulder hoping to comfort her but she swatted it away shaking her head. Tears streamed down her face again as she sat down on the floor, all her flowers falling to the ground as she did.

Cione sat down beside her wrapping his arm around her "minx.. it's clear she doesn't want to talk about it" "but it's eating her alive too.." carefully you picked up one of the decaying flowers before getting up and making your way to the two still seated on the floor. Setting down slowly in front of Lycoris you felt Cinder sit down behind you "your flowers are a symbol of death... they believed the same about you, didn't they?" Now hiding her face in her hands Lycoris began to cry harder, nodding her head yes. "Minx please.. that's enough" Cione was growing frustrated and it was clear with his tone ignoring it you pressed further "Lycoris, did they do that to your leg?"

"Minx!" Cione slammed his hand on the ground in anger but before he could continue to scold you Lycoris finally burst, spilling out everything that she had been holding in. "All I wanted was to help! They were dying from an illness that was sweeping through their town! It's an easy one to fix, it just needs the right blend. I brought it to them just wanting to help, instead they blamed me saying I was the one killing them! I tried to run away but they caught me, I didn't want to hurt them. I just wanted to be friendly with them, but they beat me and said that once I was gone so would all their problems. When I tried to explain they told me to shut up and when I wouldn't they.." her tears rolled down her hands and arms dripping onto the floor.

"They took your leg and sealed you" Cione pulled her into his side helping to cover her face "Lycoris, we'll never do that to you". He seemed so full of guilt and anger but his words came out soft and kind, all you could think about was how he seemed so protective of her almost like a father to their child. "Lycoris I'm sorry, I'm sorry they did that to you. Cione is right though, we won't ever do that to you. I didn't realize spirits could struggle with trauma.." "of course we can, we're not emotionless. We have thoughts and feelings just like humans do, we're not mindless monsters.." her eyes were puffy as she looked at you still leaning into Cione's side.

"Did talking about it help you then?" You set the flower down on the floor noticing that the petals were beginning to slowly liven back up. Lycoris nodded her head and wiped her eyes before sitting back up "I've waited for what feels like millennia with nothing but those thoughts... I never let them change how I feel, but admittedly they made me more scared and cautious then I was before".

"You never let them change how you feel?"

"No, I want to help people and spirits.. I just want to help anyone who needs help" as she gathered herself all her flowers in the room began to come back to life, perking up slowly. "Lycoris.. how can you still love people after what happened?"

".. I have a love and respect for life that's bigger than my hate, we're all living things just doing what we can to get by" a smile spread across her face as she picked up the once dead flower from the floor, the color had fully returned and it was almost as if it had never died "thank you for listening and being so caring.., I believe you both".
