Lin had dropped you off at your apartment and was now driving home. She felt like she was floating, her head filled with millions of questions. Why were you so kind to her? Why did she allow you to touch her face, something she had trouble doing even with doctors. Why did she enjoy it?

Your warm kind hands on her skin. You, asking for her consent on something that most people would do without even thinking. The fact you cared about her enough to be mindful of how she felt. How you comforted her during it. Everything was making the earthbender feel certain emotions she hadn't felt in a long time.

Lin arrived at her building's parking lot and waited a few minutes in her car just thinking. A hand flew to her mouth as she started to laugh at your terrified face when she had questioned you about challenging her. How you paled before turning brighter than a tomato, your eyes focused on her. She sighed. She found you amusing, nothing more. This was a silly little fase that would soon be over.

She walked to the lobby, greeting the doorman as always before going to her penthouse. Tonight however, she wanted a bit of wine.
_______________

The day had been incredibly busy for both of you and the whole station. To the point where neither of you were able to see much of each other all day. She had allowed you to help some officers with their cases as long as you stayed at the station. Lunch was hectic but was the only few minutes where you two got to be together.

Lin shuffled to her office with a few paper bags with food in them. She sat everything down before calling you for a break. Both of you knew it would be short but anything was better than nothing at this point.

"I know I said lunch would be on me but I haven't had time. I apologize for it, didn't know everything would be so-"

"Busy? Chaotic? Crazy? Yes, today is going to be long." You said entering the office. "And in your defense, you never said when you were going to buy us lunch." You spoke smiling as you sat down and allowed her to serve you before she served herself.

"I can't stay too late today, I promised Kya I would have dinner with her and the others at the Island."

You hummed. "Go, I'll finish the paperwork. You deserve a break."

"Actually, Pema wanted you to go too. She seems to have taken a liking to you." Lin said as she took a bite of her noodles.

"Really?" You said surprised. "But what about the paperwork?"

"We'll finish what we can today and tomorrow I'll come back and finish the rest." Lin said, looking at the paperwork.

"I'll come with you." You said without thinking.

Lin shook her head. "No, you don't have to."

"Chief-" You looked at her and gave her a soft smile. "I want to. Like I said, you don't have to do this alone anymore."

Lin blushed slightly before nodding. "Thanks..."

"My pleasure."

You both had to practically inhale the food as the work flow increased. Even Jia had to be all hands on deck with some reports. The day had been incredibly exhausting so when the clock hit 6 pm you went looking for Lin.

You found her at her office walking out with her briefcase.

"Ready to go?"

"I'll grab my bag and then we leave." You smiled.

You were tired. Today had been too long and exhausting. You just wanted to go to bed and sleep until the next shift, but you had already agreed. So now you were in Lin's patrol car on your way to the ferry.
