"Do we really have to go to the cafe?" Lin said a little annoyed.

"Hey, it's my routine on workdays. Sometimes they give me free treats so be nice."

Lin rolled her eyes as she walked beside you inside the cafe. You had convinced her to go on a different route so you could grab some treats. There was more than enough time for this but Lin had always been a punctual person, she didn't like this change of routine. Still, there wasn't a darn thing she wouldn't do for you and her mind was still thinking of your lips last night.

The cafe itself had so many smells, all of them pleasant and delicious. Lin looked around each vanity, so many pastries to choose from. Would it be stereotypical if she chose a donut? Probably. She kept looking until you caught her attention. You were talking to the baker, your smile bright and kind. Lin had wondered how a person could be so joyful, she had no clue. Yet here you were, showing her how nice people could be. Lin walked towards you and listened to the conversation.

"-and he almost burns down the bakery!" The man said laughing.

"Your son tried his best, don't be too hard on him." You said to the baker, chuckling at the story.

"You know Y/N, if you were to date him, you would get free pastries for the rest of your life." The man said, wiggling his eyebrows.

Lin scowled her face in disapproval. She watched you gracefully deny the offer.

"Sorry, I have someone else on my radar." She winked at him.

Lin's heart stopped, it always would. She wondered if it was her each time. You had shown her your feelings but she was still on guard.

"I tried" He nodded with a smile. "Jokes aside." The man looked at you straight to your eyes. "Please, never stop coming here. We are all happy to have you as a customer, and even more as a friend."

You bowed your head and shook his hand. "I will. I'm known for my loyalty, especially to those who are kind to me."

Lin watched the interaction and pondered. You were something else, something new to the city. People could be nice here, but not at your level. You were so refreshing to have around, people would see you and would immediately fall for your charm. Lin let a smile slip as you both walked to the patrol car. Lin's mind wondering.

"You there?" You asked, handing her a coffee.

"Yes, im here" She looked at you with soft eyes.

She gave you one last smile as she got into the patrol and you followed after her. Today was promising

Today wasn't so promising

Lin had spent all day stressing and arguing with her subordinates, even you. To start, half of the precinct was either late, missing or uncooperative in their tasks. Then there was this big operation and it was compromised by a small mistake. She was pissed.

"It was such a simple task!" She roared. "How dense are all of you to not follow simple instructions."

You reached your hand to her shoulder and she smacked it away. "Get to work" She growled.

It was extremely hard to accept that in the precinct, you were nothing but her subordinate in her eyes. Your emotions were all over the place and you ended up in one of the bathroom stalls bawling your eyes out. Your hands were trembling as you tried wiping your eyes and nose. The door opened and you swallowed your sounds to not alarm anyone.

"Y/N? It's me." Jia said, knocking on your stall.

You let out a sigh and opened the door. You needed her, needed someone to vent to.
