Lin crossed her arms over her chest and raised her eyebrow, she wore a smirk on her face. "So, that was quite a specific description. Don't you agree?"

Your mind was all over the place. You weren't ready to tell her about your feelings, this could end badly if Lin didn't feel the same thing.

"Yup!" You had to think fast. "Not all of it was true, I just needed to get them off my back."

Lin's smile faltered and faded. "You lied?"

Her expression made alarm bells ring in your ears. "Yes...?"

Lin's attitude changed into frustration. "Who is it?" She asked, annoyed.

"I'm not ready to say names yet." You were technically telling the truth.

Lin got even more annoyed with your answer. "Stop acting like a child."

You looked at her confused. "I'm not!"

"Just tell me!" Lin raised her voice angrily

You were taken aback, Lin has never spoken to you like this while off work. "Why are you so desperate to know?!" You raised your voice at her.

Lin's frustration turned into anger quickly. "Desperate?! You're the one desperate looking for a lover!" Lin cringed as soon as the words left her mouth.

"Desperate for a lover?!" You were angry now. How dare her say you were desperate for a lover?!

"Me?! Desperate?! I am lovable and I don't need anyone! If I wanted a lover I could have her! The same can't be said for some people." Your stomach dropped and you regretted your words immediately.

Lin felt her heart crack. Some people? Was she referring to her? Her face hardened and she looked at you. "Oh so now I'm unlovable?"

"No! I would never say that!" You yelled back.

"It was implied!" Lin got closer to you.

"I didn't imply anything! You are making a big deal out of nothing!"

"You are forbidden to date any officer from my precinct." She growled, her jealousy clouding her judgment.

"Excuse me?!" You barked. "You can't dictate my love life!"

"I can if it involves my officers! You're a distraction! You've always been!" Ah shit, Lin was shocked at her own words but her anger didn't allow her to show it.

You felt hurt at her comment. A distraction? You looked at her for a moment and got face to face with her, making Lin step back. "You don't get to tell me who I love or who I lay with. I don't care about your opinion on it. I don't know what's your problem with me, but it's not my fault you feel insecure."

Lay with? You were sleeping with someone? Now Lin was even more bitter. "Insecure?" Lin laughed crudely. "Insecure? Of you? Please. You're not even half the cop I am, you'll probably never be." This time Lin's eyes widened, she saw your hurt and pain. She overstepped and the regret she felt couldn't be measured.

"Is that how you think of me?" You asked softly. "I knew it never felt like we were equals but... I thought I was better than beneath you."

Lin wanted to apologize, to tell you she didn't mean it. If anything, you were more than better than her. Sadly her pride was stronger and she looked away. "Don't be late for work tomorrow." She said as she pushed past you and shoved you slightly with her shoulder.

"I won't." You growled.

As you heard her footsteps slowly vanish, you took a shaky breath and held back your tears. Things couldn't have gone worse if you tried. Walking back you could see Kya staring back at you with a worried expression.
