Few Days had passed since the day at the beach. Everything had been like usual, though you did notice Lin had turned a bit distant. You just assumed it was due to the sheer volume of work but it still kept bothering you.
But you were focused on the diary and after long nights without dinners with Lin, spending that time reading it you finished it. Not that it was your choice, as soon as it was dinner time she took a break and would eat out. When it came to the diary, sadly the last pages were torn out. Still you had found more information that would be helpful for the investigation. Especially a new location. You needed to find Lin and tell her about it and that you needed to investigate immediately.
When you got out of the office you saw Lin, she was helping some officers with a new sting operation.
"And Mako can go- Y/N..." She looked at you then back at the officer. "Give me a second."
She walked closer to you and you felt some weird sort of energy rush through you the closer she got.
"Chief! I have a new location I have to go to, it's about the case I've been working on and I-"
"You may go. Take your patrol car and stay out of trouble." She said waving you off, barely looking at you.
Usually this reaction of trust would make you happy, but seeing her dismiss you so bluntly made you upset for some reason.
"Yes chief." You said annoyed.
"Oh and Y/N." Lin said, making you turn around with a huge smile.
"Don't scratch it, it just got back from the repair shop."
You nodded disappointed and wasted no time getting in the parking and into the patrol car driving away. You still hadn't received a call from Tank and that's something you expected. Still you had to continue and find more about the case before Lin would make you quit it.
Lin... Why was she avoiding you? Had you said something when you were sleeping? Did you disrespect her? But she hadn't said anything about that... or fired you at least.
Getting lost in your thoughts you almost drove past the location. You quickly corrected and entered the long street filled with trashy abandoned looking houses. You continued until you found the house. You had an odd feeling to park the patrol behind some tall grass out of view so you did and got out.
Walking to the house knocked and called out, just in case. Hearing no response you pushed the door open.
You moved around the house, searching top and bottom for any evidence yet unable to find any. You weren't giving up just yet, this house was important for something, It had to be.
You were downstairs when you heard the front door open and close, yet not before hearing a couple of footsteps and voices following them. You hid behind an old couch and kept an eye out,
"We need to get that cargo in here by tomorrow morning, the boss is waiting for it." A man said.
"We are doing what we can, you know how that bitch of a chief placed more officers at the bay's bridge." Another responded.
You scowled at his comment but kept an eye on them.
"The boss doesn't want excuses, he wants results and we need them by tomorrow morning."
the other man nodded and continued walking, they stood next to the couch where you froze trying not to make a sound. They pulled the cord of a nearby lamp and a door opened under them.
"Let's go."
The two men moved downstairs and you followed a bit far behind them, careful not to startle them or show your position. It was a whole world down there, drugs boxes of possible contraband and weapons all scattered around the room. Other people were moving things around while at the center wall was a large city map with red dots in a few places. You grabbed a pocket sized map you always carried with you and carefully unfolded it and marked the same places, then you carefully pocket it again.
