You stared out the window of the car, watching the city go by before you. Steve and James had their own little conversation, talking about what they'd do about Tony.
You didn't understand much about what they were talking about, but Tony sounded like a problem to you. You hoped this time was different, that you'd finally have a home with a loving family, but you never hyped yourself up incase it happened again. You always had a plan, different people meant different ways to escape, those ways never stood a chance against you. They didn't, until you saw the biggest Tower you've ever seen. You had to come up with a backup plan and fast, you weren't about to be left alone with people you didn't trust.
"Okay, we're here." Steve announced, parking the car.
You immediately got out, relived that you were outside. You looked up, closing one eye from the sun and saw how tall the Tower was in person. You felt a bit anxious looking at how big it was, you gripped your bag tighter, looking back at the person infront of you.
"I know." James nodded, "It's huge. Scary huge."
You let out a breathy laugh, "Yeah. It really is."
James smiled, proud he was able to get a laugh out of you already.
"You guys have pets?" You asked, following him to the front doors.
You three entered the Tower, a group of people stopped in their tracks, looking at you. Chips bags, soda cans, candy boxes, and crumbs were scattered around the what you thought was the living room. The group of people looked between you, Steve, and James, curious eyes everywhere.
"No, but we have pigs." James groaned, rubbing his temples.
You stiffled a laugh, looking at everyone.
"Guys, this is Y/n. The newest family member and teammate." Steve introduced you to them, looking at the room before him, "Ah! Clean this up or no one gets dessert."
"Hell, they ate it all on the couch." James mumbled, earning another quiet laugh from you.
Steve got a bunch of "Yes" and annoyed mumbles as they all started to clean. A man came around the corner, sunglasses on, a casual outfit, and Mercedes keys in his hands. He looked like he owned the place but Steve looked like he ran it.
"Tony." Steve greeted, eyeing him.
Tony, from what you heard, stopped infront of you. He tilted his head down, his eyes were visible from the top of his glasses before he pulled them back up and faced Steve and James.
"Capsicle, Manchurian Candidate," He greeted back, clearing his throat, "Why is there a smaller you in my building?"
"She's new. Leave her alone, Stark." James answered, almost in a growl like tone as he gently hid you behind him.
"So, the rumors are true. Honestly I didn't think you'd go through with it but you know what, okay." He shrugged, "She's your responsibility, but if she so much as blows the place up, she's outta here. Chow."
You watched as he strutted out the Tower. You you eyed him, studying him before he drove off in his car, speeding down the driveway. You came from around James, looking around the place as you continued walking forward. You bumped into someone, stumbling backwards.
"Hey!" They shouted, turning around, "Watch where yo-...oh. Hey kid."
You rubbed your forehead, looking up through your lashes. You found yourself looking up at a tall, brown eyed, chocolate skin man.
"Uhm...hi?" You spoke lowly, backing up so he wasn't towering over you.
"Mhm." He hummed, sticking out his hand, "Sam."
