Leggy - Veux-tu m'épouser? (Part 1)

Peggy paced around her room, her mind going absolutely crazy. That was, until Eliza popped her head in. "Peggs? You good?" She asked, snapping her out of her thoughts. 

    "Huh?" Peggy stopped in her tracks, looking to her sister. 

    "You have been pacing around for like- 15 minutes. Is something wrong?" 

 Peggy bit her bottom lip nervously before sighing. "I'm…I'm thinking of doing something…special. I'm just trying to figure out what to do for that thing."

    Eliza quirked an eyebrow. "And what is that thing?"

   Peggy paused before coming up to Eliza and holding her hands. "If I tell you, can you promise not to tell anyone else without my permission?"

   Eliza nodded, a smile forming on her face. "Of course."

   Peggy inhaled sharply. "I'm going to propose to Lafayette." She said softly, avoiding her sister's gaze. 

  Eliza was quiet for a moment before making a happy squeal and spinning Peggy around. "OH MY GOD I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!!!" She yelled excitedly, shaking her by the shoulders. 

   Peggy's face flushed. "Why did you have to get papa's strength…" She mumbled as she was brought into a hug. 

   "My baby sister…breaking gender norms!! I couldn't be prouder!!!!" Eliza said in tears, when Alexander stepped in. 

    "Is everything-" He started before stopping as he saw his emotional wife in tears clinging to her embarrassed sister. "-Ooookay?" He finished. 

  Eliza rushed into Alexander's arms. "Oh, Alex! It's so wonderful!" She said, making her husband even more confused. 

   "What is it, Betsey?" He asked, confused before looking to Peggy. "Is there something I should be aware of?" He asked. 

    Peggy's breath hitched. Alexander was one of Lafayette's best friends, was she able to trust him with this secret? Well…he was normally good with secrets, she had confided in him a lot before, why wouldn't she be able to now? "Umm…you won't tell anyone, right?" She asked apprehensively. 

  Alex came over to his sister-in-law, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Of course. If you want something to be kept as a secret, it will stay a secret, Peggs. I promise." He assured her with a gentle look.

  Peggy smiled. She was glad she had someone so close that she could trust so easily. "Okay. Well…I'm planning on proposing to Lafayette…I'm just not sure how." She said, rubbing her arm nervously. 

   Alexander's eyes widened, a huge smile growing on his face. "Oh my god! That's amazing!" He said, hugging Peggy tightly, though not as near as tight as Eliza had done previously. 

   Peggy smiled sheepishly. "Yeah…I don't know how I can do it though…"

Alexander thought for a moment before breaking out into a scheming smirk. "I have a couple of ideas."

Peggy raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms. "And those ideas are what, exactly?"

  Alexander took her hand, leading her out of the room. "I'll show you, don't worry."

  Eliza watched them exit the room, a big smile on her face watching her sister and husband. "Come back up for dinner!"
