He's All You Care About

Everyday when I went to meet Kaoru in our usual spot, Adam was there. They would always start before me, so I was left to catch up. It was like he's the only thing getting Kaoru's attention. In school all he talked about was how good Adam was at skating and how he's good at this and that. It was tiring. Every time he mentioned Adam my heart hurt a little more.

Kaoru and I were heading to the lunch tables and as we sat down he began talking about Adam. " did you see that trick he did yesterday Joe?" " he's so cool. I wish I could do it like him" I sighed pieced myself together and smiled and said " so cool." Kaoru smiled at me and began eating his sandwich. Anything to see him smile I guess. I thought to myself. I wish his reason to smile didn't bring me pain. I think I should tell him how I feel. I started coaching myself in my head so I could tell Kaoru I was in love with him. Before I could say anything, the bell rang wrapping lunch up and Kaoru headed off to his next class while giving me a small goodbye. Next time Joe.

After classes finished Kaoru and I walked home together. I tried to talk to him but he kept cutting me off with something about Adam. I just sucked it up and nodded my head smiled an agreed. I haven't seen him this happy about something in a while. So I'm trying to cherish that smile. When I reached his house he said his goodbye and we promised to meet each other later tonight. He turned into his house not doing the handshake we've been doing for the last 17 years. I just sighed and began my path home.

I opened my bedroom door and plopped into my bed. I sighed to myself. I took a quick nap and was woken up to my alarm telling me it time to go meet up with Kaoru. I lacked motivation knowing Adam was going to be there, but I still have to confess so I have no choice but to go. I got up and got ready. Then I sneaked out and went to our usual meeting spot. To my surprise it was only Kaoru there. " where's Adam ?" I ask when I arrive. " he's not here yet." Kaoru responds. " I have to tell you something." We both say at the same time. " you go first" I tell Kaoru. " I like Adam." He says while smiling. My face immediately drops. " okay your turn !" Kaoru said while smiling. " oh - um nevermind." I say. I grab my skateboard and head back towards the way to my house. " where are you going?" Kaoru screams. I keep walking, fighting back tears.
