Not Enough

Time

I woke up to my alarm beeping for school. I had lost track of time yesterday and didn't even realize when I fell asleep. I headed towards the bathroom. When I stepped in the bathroom, I looked in the mirror and seen my puffy eyes. I brushed it off and washed my face and brushed my teeth. I hopped in the shower and took a quick little wash off. I stepped out the shower feeling a little bit refreshed. I walked in my room and threw on my uniform, not even bothering to dry my hair. I picked up my phone and seen a couple missed calls from Kaoru but I ignored them. I seen the pills I took the day before and threw them in my bag. I grabbed my skateboard and headed out for school.

I met Kaoru at the intersection we normally met at. When he seen me his face dropped. " Kojiro.." he said. He never used my real name, unless he was mad or concerned. " yes Kaoru?" I say while starting the route to school. He follows behind me saying " you look like absolute shit .. are you okay?"
" geez .. thanks Kaoru" I say sarcastically. The rest of the walk was silent. Kaoru broke the silence by saying " did you know Adam and I are dating?" " he's also transferring to our school". I stopped dead in my tracks. My head started spinning. " Joe? Why'd you stop walking?" And with those words I snapped back into reality. I began walking again. " no comment?" Kaoru says. I just smile and shake my head no.

We soon arrived to school, we went our separate ways. As I was walking to my class, my head was running laps. Are you shitting me? They're dating now? He's joining our school? Could my dad get any worse? These thoughts swarmed my head. I arrived to my class and plopped down into my seat. Within 15 our class I heard Kaoru and I's name on the loudspeaker. So I excused myself gathered my stuff and headed to the main office. When I arrived I seen Kaoru and Adam. The principal asked Kaoru and I to show Adam around, since he said we were friends. So of course Kaoru agreed. I was going to decline but Kaoru started at me with pleading eyes so I gave in.

We started the tour. Kaoru and Adam were in front holding hands, talking and smiling. They occasionally talked to me other than that it was their world and I'm just living in it. I didn't think the flirting could get worse until I seen him pull Kaoru into a kiss. That made me see red. I realized my surroundings and I went to the nearest bathroom. It's not like they would notice anyway. I stepped inside the stall and stared rummaging through my bag. Where is it? I thought. I saw the bag of pills and swallowed one.

I returned to class after the pills started to kick in. I finished my school day by hanging on by thread but I did it.
