George POV
———————
The dinner went by agonizingly slow. I could sense Dream's unease in his scent and it didn't help to calm my nerves. Somehow only his scent was enough to convey his feelings to me. Right now we were walking down the path that led to the beach, since sitting in the suite seemed too stressful seeing how Wilbur and Dream were in a silent battle; with Wilbur staring and smirking from time to time and Dream doing his best to ignore him. I could swear I heard Dream growl inside his throat a few times, which made Wilbur pipe up with excitement during his endless speeches about society...or conspiracies...? I couldn't be sure considering I zoned out multiple times during his detailed explanations and only hummed along while nodding and staring at the ground.
My eyes kept going back to Dream who had changed into jeans but kept the hoodie on, only putting on his underarm holster loosely over the hoodie and throwing on a black leather jacket. He had told the two agents outside the suite that he and Sapnap would take over the security, for the time being, therefore he had to be armed I guess.
- so tell me Dream,
I stiffened, seeing that for the first time since dinner Wilbur was striking a conversation directly with Dream. I didn't feel like it would end well but all I could do was look up and actually listen. Dream was walking in front of us, so he slightly turned his head towards Wilbur signaling that he was listening. I looked back, Karl and Sapnap were walking a few steps behind and talking quietly, clueless to the tension building up few steps ahead.
Wilbur continued: "is there a special someone in your life?" Dream scoffed lightly, turning slightly to his left and continuing to walk towards the beach: "I don't see how that's relevant or appropriate Wilbur." Wilbur jumped up like a little kid would: "oh come on Dream! Live a little! Here." He ran in front of Dream, turning and facing him, walking backward and shoving his hands in his trench coat's pockets: "I'm not involved with anyone, see?! Easy! Your turn!" he beckoned with his hand for Dream to go on. But Dream only shook his head with a half-smile and called out to Tommy who was walking a few steps ahead of him, poking at everything he could find with a piece of stick he had found earlier: "Tommy, this way!" Tommy turned and looked at Dream. I was waiting for some snarky comment, like the stuff he said to me or Wilbur; but he turned and ran towards us swiftly without a word, continuing to do the same thing few steps ahead.
- oh my god Tommy are you doing what he says like a puppy because he's a lead alpha?!
Wilbur shouted with a mocking tone, turning and following Tommy, forgetting his conversation with Dream. Not that Dream minded. He seemed rather relieved. Tommy shouted back: "shut the fuck up you pussy! He's the only one with a gun here so I think I would do what he says! Makes sense!" Sapnap shouted back: "umm... Not to interrupt but I have one too, just to put it out there." Tommy scoffed and didn't pay Sapnap any mind. Karl lightly touched Sapnap's arm: "I think it's cool!" Sapnap smiled, Satisfied: "Thank you, Karl!"
Wilbur shook his head and turned towards Dream again: "I'd watch it, I think you're his hero now. It's a dangerous title!" Dream stiffened a bit, his voice getting low and devoid of sentiment: "Heroes aren't real. He better rip that band-aid now before he gets devastatingly disappointed." Wilbur was caught off-guard. It was the first time that I actually saw his shocked expression: "I thought I had you figured out, but you're something else aren't you?" Wilbur said, starting to walk side-by-side with Dream and gripping his shoulder firmly: "I'm starting to really like you!" Dream had no reaction to Wilbur's touch.
We reached an open space next to the sea with a few logs set around each other for people to sit and enjoy the view. We sat down on the logs, Karl and Sapnap next to each other, me and Dream on either side of them, and Wilbur and Tommy next to each other, Tommy being next to me and Wilbur next to Dream. I shivered slightly, wearing only a thin jacket didn't sound like such a good idea now that we were next to the sea and a strong wind was blowing, penetrating all my layers of clothing.
