A/N: Sorry for the late update, the university started and got me a bit occupied. I made this chapter longer to make up for it.

TW: Slight smut

Dream POV

———————

I shifted in my seat and loosened the tie of the uncomfortable formal suit I was wearing. It was a black suit, kind of the same thing George was wearing, but he had a dark blue tie and I had a dark green one.

George was sitting next to me at the back of the limo and looked back at me when I started messing with the tie again; he just sighed and scooted over, close to me. I stared at him with a questioning gaze, asking what he was doing. He just leaned over without saying a word and started fixing my tie, his hair wavering as my breathing got heavier each second he was that close to me. When he was done he didn't back away, he just looked up right into my eyes: "stop messing with this, and stop stressing out Dream. Captain said she'd put a team to do your job since you and Sapnap are injured. You're just a simple guest tonight. So act like it!"

He raised his eyebrows at me and sat back down. I huffed: "I don't know how to do that." He rolled his eyes dramatically: "just sit back! When we get there...I don't know! Drink a glass of champagne? All we have to be focused on is talking with Eret and figuring out what he wants to discuss." I nodded. He was right. I had to focus on what was more important. But I didn't feel good about attending this party to begin with. I know I was the one who said it was ok to go in the first place, but now that we were nearly there I was starting to second guess myself; Fenrir wouldn't attack before the one-week deadline is over, what if some other pack does...? What if Eret has changed sides under pressure? What if...

I kept stressing out until the car came to a halt in front of a big mansion. I took a deep breath and opened the door and stepped out, keeping it open while I scanned the area for potential threats, and for the Gamma agents that were supposed to accompany us. There were a lot of guests getting out of their fancy cars and limos and walking inside; all in formal suits and dresses and mostly alphas judging by their scents. I held in a growl, tensing up.

I felt slightly better as my eyes landed on a familiar face, approaching me from the parking lot. His dark green hair was a dead giveaway that it was him from miles away: "Awesam!" I waved and he walked towards me, smiling widely, his dark green eyes almost shining in the setting sun: "hey Dream! Heard you got your butt kicked dude." He reached me and I shook the hand he was offering me, changing it into a bro hug. I heard George whisper with uncertainty in his voice: "Awesome...?" like he wasn't sure if he heard that right, but he stayed silent. Probably a bit alarmed from Sam's scent since he was one of the few alphas in the force. He was wearing his uniform, with the Gamma rank decorating top of his jacket's shoulder-top.

I backed away and scoffed: "you wish, it's just a forced vacation!" George said quietly: "and a cracked rib." I grinned, looking down at him as he sent me a glare. I placed my hand on his back, my hand slightly sliding down but I stopped it halfway: "this is George, your mission for the evening! Not a scratch on him." Awesam gave George a warm smile: "Nice to meet you, you can call me Sam." George raised his eyebrows: "wow, you told me your name that easily?! I've known Dream for weeks now and still have no idea what his real name is!" Sam gave me a knowing look and then looked back to George: "well, some of us are more mysterious than the others. Mostly with good reason." Then he turned his attention completely to me: "I'm guessing you're gonna be sticking by his side?" I nodded: "of course. But I wasn't allowed any weapons since I'm 'technically' off duty so I need you to stay close." He nodded; I looked around: "where is your partner? I'm sure they didn't send you alone. Karl and Sapnap are gonna be here soon and we need someone to keep an eye on them."
