It's currently raining quite a bit where I live and I couldn't not think about Tsu. Also inspired by a very popular headcanon I read a while ago, but I can't remember where I read it or who it's from originally. No playlist this time!
You glanced at the outside through your glass sliding door, watching the rain drop. It was a lot of rain, but it fell so lightly that you would have to strain your ears to hear it. This was the perfect weather to have fun with the rest of the class downstairs in the living room.
With your cold hands tucked into your pockets, you hurried down the stairs to meet your friends. Most of them were huddled around a board game and by Bakugou's yelling and Denki's taunting, you could tell the ash blonde was losing. Their hairstyles told you who they were, but you couldn't find the head of dark green hair you were looking for.
After sensing some activity there, you made your way to the kitchen. Sato was baking something with the help of Shoji, who'd been using his quirk to do multiple things at once. Momo was waiting for the kettle to finish boiling while she talked to Jirou.
"Yaomomo? Do you know where Tsu is? Sorry to interrupt." Jirou waved it off. Momo looked at you to answer.
"Last time I checked, she went outside."
"Yeah, she loves the rain." Jirou added. You nodded in thanks, darted to your room to fetch an umbrella and add a raincoat and an extra layer of clothing to your outfit. You switched out your shoes for some boots and made your way down again, passing by the group still lost in their game.
You glanced out one of the many windows, and you could barely make out a blurry figure through the droplets racing on the window surface. You could assume that it was her, sitting down on the grass. No umbrella.
You opened the umbrella when you stepped outside. Besides a few stray droplets, it managed to shield you as you walked up to her. Up close, you noticed that she had been wearing a yellow raincoat, but kept the hood down and let the rain soak her. Tsuyu didn't seem to mind at all.
"Want some company?" Tsuyu turned in your direction. Some of her hair was matted to her face and her skin was pale and wet, but she couldn't look any happier.
"Hi, there! Ribbit! Sure, your company would be great!" You crouched down beside her, leaving some space so that the umbrella wouldn't bump her.
"What are you doing out here?" Her fingers brushed against the grass; it was in need of cutting.
"I'm just enjoying the rain. I guess I've always liked the water, because of all my frog qualities." Her face seemed to light up even more at a distant memory and she smiled. You smiled too, happy she was happy.
"What did you just think about?" You asked softly. Tsu's smile didn't disappear. She looked upwards like the memory was unfolding in front of her.
"Almost every rainy day, my siblings would ask me to go outside with them. Just splashing and jumping in puddles, or just lying on the grass with our eyes closed and holding hands. We used to bond like that, Ribbit! I just remember their little smiles when they talked about whatever in the rain. Their laughs whenever I chased them."
The way Tsu described her time with her siblings had you feeling a little nostalgic to, as if you'd been there. She'd shown you a couple of pictures of her brother and sister and you just found it so adorable when she rambled about them. Truly a great sister. Tsu was just a great person, all in all.
Her eyes dropped and so did her smile. Instantly, you placed your hand on her back in an attempt to comfort her. "What's wrong, Tsu?"
"I miss them so much. It just feels like I haven't seen them in forever, but I've been so busy lately, Ribbit! I'm a horrible sister." She turned to you, tears welling up and dangerously close to falling. Your heart clenched a little. Those tears had to disappear. You dropped your umbrella to give Tsu a proper hug. She sniffled and sobbed in your arms. You were thankful you'd chosen to wear the raincoat, but you knew that that wouldn't have mattered anyway. Even if it meant getting soaked to the bone, you'd comfort Tsuyu Asui any day.
You did your best to soothe her crying. "Hey, it's okay. I know, we've all been busy lately, Tsu. I know that they probably miss you, but I highly doubt they think the worst of you. They probably think that their big sister has a lot on her plate, and she does. It's okay, Tsu." You continued to mutter some words of comfort, stroking her head and rubbing her back. Despite wearing a coat, you were still getting a little wet.
After a while, Tsuyu pulled back and looked at you with a watery smile. "I hope so. Thank you, Y/N, ribbit! Sorry for getting you wet." You picked up the umbrella from the ground and flashed her a warm smile.
"It's okay, Tsu! I know that video calls aren't the same, so maybe I could help you with whatever, so you can see them soon? Can I help in any way?"
As Tsu took your appearance in that moment, she couldn't help but instantly feel better. Here you were, offering your help even though you didn't even know you could. She was so lucky she had you. "No, but I'll let you know if you can."
"Okay, then! Do you want to go back inside, or do you still wanna stay here? Momo boiled some hot water, so maybe we'll have some tea or cocoa! But you might want to change your clothes."
Tsuyu smiled wider and nodded. After rising, you held her hand in yours and made it back indoors.
Tsuyu just knew her siblings would love you.
Yay, finally completed this two days later! Again, Tsuyu just sitting in the rain is a popular headcanon, but I couldn't not use it! I've noticed that I don't have any female character POVs, but idk if you guys would like more? Leave any characters and scenarios you'd like me to write about in the comments, please!
