Ace could faintly hear the sound of something beeping, groaning, her eyes fluttered open. Only for her to quickly shut them due to the bright lights. Slowly opening them, she squinted, her eyes darting around the unfamiliar room. Glancing to the right, she noticed Jax, Alyx and Meg all sitting in the room. Taking another glance around the room it clicked. She was in the hospital.
"Finally, you're awake." A voice whispered. Causing her to look at her friends. Alyx smiled at the girl as their eyes met. Out of the three, Alyx was the only one who was awake. Meg was laying in a chair with her feet on Jax's legs, Jax had his head on Alyx's shoulder. Ace smiled before quickly wincing from the pain in her face. Alyx frowned, gently moving Jaxs head. The dark curly haired boy stood up, walking towards Ace he gently placed his hands on the side of the bed. "How are you feeling?" He mumbled.
"I'm feeling okay." Ace responded quietly as she looked around. "Where's- Where's Casey?" Ace questioned, looking up at Alyx as she sat up in her bed, hoping he'd tell her that Casey made it out.
"I- I'm sorry Aj, she, she didn't make it." He responded Sympathetically. Ace shook her head.
"No, no, you're joking, please tell me you're joking." Ace pleaded, her voice cracking. Alyx looked down, a few of his curls falling in his face. "She got out the house, she had to make it."
"I wish I was."
Tears slowly dripped down her cheeks, falling onto her hospital gown. Her body was numb.
"I'm sorry Aj.." She could faintly hear him. It was as if she was miles away from him and not in the same room. She said nothing. Hearing her room door open she blinked. Slowly making her way back to reality she looked at the door. Standing at the entrance to her room was Deputy Dwight aka deputy Dewy.
"Hey." Dewy mumbled as he slowly inched towards Ace. "I'm sorry but, I'm here to ask you a few questions, we don't have to start yet, if you don't want to." He finished sending a small smile the girl's way. Taking his hat off he began fidgeting with the end of it.
Sniffing Ace quickly whipped her tears. "Can I get a cup of coffee?" Dewy nodded as he looked at Alyx, Taking the hint, the boy looked down at Ace.
"Yes I'll go get you one, 3 sugars right?" Ace gave a small smile as she nodded. "I'll be right back."
Looking at the clock on the way, Ace noticed it said 5:30am. Looking at Dewy she raised an eyebrow.
"Why are you here so early?" She asked as he finally stood at the end of her bed.
"Oh, I was sent here by Tatum and Sid. They wanted me to see if you were okay and if you were awake and to make sure they got up for school." Dewy stated as he pointed towards the two sleeping teens. Ace nodded, playing with the hospital band around her wrist.
After a few minutes of nothing but silence, Alyx came walking into her room with a coffee in one hand and an energy drink in the other.
"Here you go, your highness." Alyx Bowed as he held out the coffee cup to Ace who chuckled, Taking the cup from Alyx, Ace gently blew in the cup before taking a sip. Looking at the clock, Ace noticed it was 15 minutes till 6AM. Looking at the sleeping people she took another sip of coffee before focusing back on Dewy. Taking a deep breath Ace flinched as she felt Alyx place a hand on her shoulder, she felt him gently rub soothing circles with his thumb. Slightly relaxing she gave Dewy a thumbs up.
"I think I'm ready?" She announced, slightly questioning if she really was ready to relive the events that unfolded hours ago. Dewy nodded as he pulled out a little notebook flipping a couple pages ahead he then pulled out a pencil. Taking a deep breath she awaited Dewys first question.
"So, can you describe what the killer looked like?"
Finally the interview was over, Ace flopped backwards onto her bed. Letting out a breath she closed her eyes. Alyx, Jax and Meg had left around 6:15am for school and Dewy had just left moments ago, Giving her a quick nod before he left. With her good arm Ace pulled her blanket up and looked at the ceiling hoping to have either no dreams or good dreams, but she knew she probably wasn't that lucky. The sound of her heart monitor beeping helped her drift off to sleep.
"Dude shut up, we aren't even supposed to be in here." A voice mumbled causing Ace to move in her sleep.
"Billy?" She mumbled, groaning slightly as she slowly opened her eyes. Forcing them to focus on the first face she saw, she was right, it was just who she thought it was. A blush dusting her cheeks as he leaned closer to her, looking behind Billy's head she chuckled as she saw Stu making weird faces behind Billy's head.
"What are you two doing here?" She asked sitting up from her spot, Glancing at the clock she noted it read 11:45am which means they should still be at school. Billy rolled his eyes as Stu started playing with the remote to the TV.
"Its lunch time, we wanted to come see how you were doing?" Billy responded naturally causing Ace to nod her head. Looking down at the blanket Ace began fiddling with the edge of it, awkwardly listening to Stu flip through the channels on the TV.
"So, How are you doing?" Billy asked, grabbing the girl's attention. Ace shrugged as she looked away from the boy, tears pricking the corners of her eyes.
"Mainly numb." Ace said, blinking the tears away. Billy's eyes wandered over the girl taking in her appearance he saw the cuts on her cheek, one was so deep it needed stitches. She had dark bags under her eyes and her hair was messy. She also had a bruise on the side of the head, giving her a nod.
"You've been through a lot, it's understandable." He responded. The dark haired woman nodded as she looked back down at her hands.
"We should probably get going, we aren't supposed to be here right now." Billy finished as he stood up, Shaking her head she chuckled.
"Don't get caught on your way out." Ace giggled as Stu walked over and gently gave her a hug.
"Yes, your highness, wouldn't wanna get banned from seeing you again." Stu joked as he pulled away from the girl and walked towards the door. Ace missed the glare Billy gave Stu.
"See ya later boys." Ace smiled as she gave Billy a small wave, the boy smiled back at her as he gave her a little nod before turning around and walking out the door.
