The rest of the day went by rather quickly. And Misaki wasn't in a good mood. After what had happened, she was angry for Kyouka. But also terrified. She knew the consequences of leaving the Port Mafia way before she left. And even after she did, she had never bothered think about it ever, as she was still mourning for the loss of Odasaku. And she was still mourning four years later.
But at the moment of leaving, as she felt was heartbroken. Though she hated her life in the Port Mafia, there were still some good things about being there. But she ended up having to lose it all.
Misaki never felt more terrified when she saw Mori. At that very moment, she stopped breathing, she couldn't move. It's like everything around her completely stopped. But seeing Kyouka look so scared completely broke her out of it.
The way Mori completely acted as if nothing was wrong, as if he hadn't done anything wrong, it pissed her off.
It had gotten dark, and it was pouring outside. The rain completely fit the mood perfectly somehow. Everyone had already left, Misaki was the last time stay. She sat at her desk angrily biting the end of her pen. So many things were going through her mind at that very moment.
A hand suddenly grabbed her wrist, causing her to pull the pen away from her mouth. "You're going to break that pen the more you bite on it. And maybe your teeth as well." Dazai commented.
"I'm not in the mood for your games right now." Misaki sighed.
"So I heard." Dazai said. He grabbed a random chair and sat down right next to her. "Are you okay?" He asked.
"No." Misaki answered. "How's Kyouka?" She asked.
"She's doing fine. Atsushi was able to calm her down after what happened." Dazai answered. He scooted his chair closer and leaned closer. "But I want to know how you're feeling."
Misaki clenched her fist and looked down at her lap. "I'm angry. But I'm also terrified." She said honestly. She was doing her best to hold in the tears.
"What are you so scared of?" Dazai asked worriedly.
"That I probably have to go back. That I'll be taken away for the second time." Misaki answered. "I don't want to go back there. I can't go back there. I'd rather die." She muttered. She clenched her fist harder. Her nails began to dig into her hand that she could've started to bleed.
Dazai reached over and grabbed her hand. She stopped. A single tear slid down her cheek and landing on her hand. "He won't take you. I won't let him. None of us will. And I won't hesitate to kill him if he even tries." Dazai threatened.
Dazai wasn't in the best mood either after learning about what had happened. Of course Mori held a larger grudge against Dazai. And one of the only ways to get to Dazai was to get to Misaki. There was no doubt that Mori would use Misaki to make him mad. And this was one of them.
Misaki stood up from the chair and grabbed he bag. Dazai looked up at her confused. "Where are you going?" He asked.
She rubbed her eyes one last time and out on her hood. "Not too far. I'll see you back at home." She said.
"You're not going out to drink, are you." He asked worriedly.
Misaki shook her head. "No, I just need some alone time. Pretty sure you'll know where to find me." Misaki assured.
"Okay. Stay safe. And take the umbrella."
~
After thirty minutes of walking, she finally reached the headstone under the tree. Misaki took her jacket off and laid it on the floor. She sat down and leaned against the tree. She dropped the umbrella and placed it besides her. It didn't matter to her that it was still raining. Though the tree blocked most of it, very few droplets of water landed on her.
She pulled her legs up and rested her head on her knees. This was the closest she get get to comfort. She wondered what would have happened if Odasaku were still alive.
Would he have left with her? Would he had finally reached that dream of owning his own house? Of becoming a writer? Maybe everything wouldn't be so sad and depressing. Maybe Misaki would still be happy.
But that wasn't the case anymore.
It didn't come to mind that even though she had left the Port Mafia, she still wasn't safe. She's have to continue to live in fear of having to go back. It didn't matter if she died, she's rather be dead than go back.
But of course, there's only one slight chance of her ever going back.
"Misaki."
Misaki quickly lifted her head up and turned around. How was it that the person she was just thinking was right behind her?
She Haden's even realized the few tears rolling down her cheeks before. But they suddenly stopped once she saw Chuuya standing behind her.
~
Despite the rain, there were a lot of people walking around town. But the pub Chuuya was at was quite empty. Then again, it was still quite early to drink. But Chuuya didn't care.
He need to get his mind off everything after today. He was regretting not going up to her earlier that day. There was a chance, and he lost it. For all her knew, it would probably be another while to see her again. Ever.
After the conversation he had with Dazai the other day, it saddened him knowing Misaki wasn't happy anymore. It was quite hard to believe. He thought she would be much happier if she weren't part of the mafia anymore. But that wasn't the case. And after seeing her earlier that day, he was finally convinced, but of course wasn't satisfied with what he had seen.
He took his last sip of the beer and turned around to face the beach. Not much of a view as it was cloudy outside and still raining, and adding the people walking around blocking his view. But the sound of the waves was still somehow calming.
He looked around the crowd. It was unusual for this many people to be out in this weather. But he didn't question it.
But a familiar figure caught his eye. Or rather, the too if someone's head. But he somewhat caught a glimpse of their facial features. And he didn't know if it was true, or if he was going crazy, but I looked quite a lot like Misaki.
He quickly stood up from his seat and started following the person. He didn't know if it actually was her, but if this was a chance to see her, he wasn't going to hesitate to take it. He didn't about the fact the he was getting wet. Or the consequences of what would happen to him. He just needed to see her, to hold her, to hear her.
He began to slowly get left behind, as people continued to get in his way. But he tried his best to catch up.
He was completely left behind at one point. And once he got away from the crowd, he was completely lost. Maybe it actually wasn't her.
He continued to walk around a little longer. He wasn't even sure where he was going. His head was going crazy and he'd do anything to get rid of what he was feeling. His hat was completely soaked, and so was his jacket.
Suddenly, from afar, he could see a small figure sitting under a tree. He slowly walked over and saw the side profile of who it was. He stood there for a bit just staring at her.
He couldn't believe it was her. The she was here right in front of him.
"Misaki."
Sorry for the wait. Finally got a break after a while. Will most likely have an update for the weekend. So watch out for that.
