"Commander Seo Dan, is there...a toilet around here?"
"Out the door, on your right."
"Thank you."
Narrowing her eyes at the girl that just left the dining hall, Seo Dan wisely took a glance around and realised the girl's husband was nowhere to be found as well. Following her gut intuition, the camp commander quickly left the room to search for the potential misfits.
At the entrance, Seo Dan took a glance to the left and another to the right before she squatted to study the soil on the ground. Minutes later, she headed down the right path, having observed the slight unevenness of the soil and the fresh tracks on the ground.
If they were truly heading to where she thought they were going, those two was clearly up to no good. After all, there was never a good reason for anyone to seek out the weapons infantry without prior permission from their chief or her.
And she certainly did not give them permission to do so.
Past the bend, Seo Dan hid behind a tree to study the pair who was whispering to one another. To any of the rebels, it would look as though the couple was sharing some quiet moment of intimacy with one another but Seo Dan wasn't convinced. Instead, she waited, just in case there was a slight chance that she was right.
"I was just starting to like her." Seo Dan cursed.
A part of her was praying that the one person she could genuinely click with was who she believed her to be. Seo Dan's life was filled with one long line of betrayal and she certainly wasn't signing herself up for another one.
That was why when the couple stepped closer to the weapons infantry, Seo Dan had resigned herself to her fate of betrayals and picked up a simple wooden block.
Time for damage control.
Bang!
In one swift movement, Seo Dan hit the man squarely on the back of his head, causing him to lose consciousness as he dropped the pin he was using to pick the lock. Before Sam Sook could react, Seo Dan did the same.
Their bodies fell to the ground with a dull thud, ending with Seo Dan towering over them as she gazed down at them with a prominent frown on her face. Mildly exasperated, Seo Dan started shifting them into one of the empty rooms, bent on interrogating them once they woke.
It was when she was shifting the man when a glint around his neck caught her eye. Once she had shifted him and tied him up as she did with Sam Sook, Seo Dan tugged the necklace off his neck and studied the familiar emblem engraved on the ring.
It was the royal ring...and if this man had it, it must mean...
Seo Dan shook her head in disbelief as she chanced another glance at the unconscious man. What were the chances that his royal highness was here in their camp? Wouldn't the king fight to keep the prince in the palace? It had been years since they closed the doors and no one knew how the grown prince looked like.
None of her theories could explain the heavy ring in her hands that felt increasingly heavier due to Seo Dan's history with the royals. Yet, no matter how hard she tried, her heart would always recognise the royal crest.
Shaken, Seo Dan kept the ring in her pocket and locked them in the room, choosing to take a breather away from the root of her discovery as she took a walk around the camp. Plastering a fake smile on her face, Seo Dan greeted the rebels who were just coming out of the dining hall and reported straight to Commander Cho's study.
The man in question was bent over the map when she arrived and had smirked at her as she approached his desk with her usual air of indifference.
"Ah, Seo Dan. This base has grown since my last visit." Cho Cheol Gang spoke in a pleased tone.
