Prologue
1948 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Jasper was fed up. He was tired of drinking from humans and feeling everything they felt. To act human he decided to head into a diner to get out of the rain. But as he entered he sensed another vampire and was about to leave once more when said vampire approached him. She was small with short black hair and golden eyes. "I've been waiting for you. Don't worry I'm not going to hurt you and I'm not a threat. I have news about your mate. I'm Alice by the way." "My mate?" Jasper asked hopefully. "Yes. I have a gift like you and can see the future in visions, most of the time it's based on what people decide, the course they're on, but others like you having your mate and me finding mine are set in stone." Alice explained quietly, leading him over to her booth.
Once they'd sat down Alice continued. "Your mate isn't born yet but I promise you, if you come with me to find the Cullen clan, we will both find our mates. Mine resides within the Clan, but if you stay with them you will end up meeting yours." Alice finished explaining. Jasper sat and thought about it for a moment. Ever since he stayed with his dear friends Peter and Char, he'd always wondered what a true mate was? As he, himself has never experienced it for Maria had tricked and manipulated him. There was no love there, only lust for power. "Okay." Jasper sighed. "I'll join you to find the Cullen clan." "You won't regret it. I promise." Alice beamed, the two leaving the diner together, talking about the possibilities of their mates.
1950 Hoquiam, Washington
Two years had passed by of Alice and Jasper following Alice's visions, each time they had been too late but it seemed they were in luck this time as they approached a beautiful glass and stone house. As they approached the steps the door opened and out spilled the Cullen clan. "Hi, I'm Alice and this is Jasper Whitlock. We don't mean you any harm, we just want to join your Coven, we've been searching for you for two years. My mate is Gwen." Alice said, pointing to the mocha skinned woman with dark curly hair who was standing besides a caramel brunette woman. "And Jasper will find his mate if he's with you and he hates drinking human blood."
