Drake entered the hospital with my backpack on his back and found me in  the waiting room. He sat down beside me pulling my backpack off and reaching for a sports magazine.

It reminded me of  that day in the hospital. The day I first started to really see who Drake was. I smiled over at him and leaned my head against the back of my chair. I hadn’t gotten much rest yesterday so I was tired. A few moments later I was sound asleep.

“Gabriella?” I heard Drake say.

“Hmm?” I replied still in a dream state.

“Your drooling on me.”

I opened my eyes in shock and pulled my head away from its place on his shoulder. I wiped my mouth and looked over at his shoulder horrified at the small spot of drool I found there. He looked down at it too and then at my wide eyed expression.

“I’m sorry!” I squealed mortified.

He laughed. “It’s no big deal. I could tell you were tired with all that snoring.”

“I did not snore!” I gasped embarrassed.

“I wasn’t going to say anything.” He continued. “But everyone was staring and I didn’t want you to feel more embarrassed.”

I buried my face in my hands and let out a little scream. I could still hear Drake chuckling and I could feel him staring at me. I looked around to find the others in the waiting room staring at me too. Some smiled while others seemed glad I wasn’t snoring anymore. I wanted to hold onto Drake and hide, but I was too scared to even ask.

Then Drake suddenly wrapped his arm around my shoulder, still laughing, and pulled me into him. I smiled and buried my head against him. I could feel my drool on my cheek  and started to become embarrassed again when the doctor called out my name.

We went into the back room and the doctor greeted us. She examined my ankle and then order an x-ray. They placed my foot on a mat and began to scan it. They turned it in different angles while the machine hummed loudly. I watched curious and worried. Drake held my hand and I looked over surprised. He didn’t say anything. He just continued to look over at my foot.

After the test we went back to the room and waited for the doctor to return. I laid back on the bed in the room while Drake checked his phone messages. A while later she came back with the results smiling.

“Well, your fine.” She exclaimed. “You just have some mild swelling. It should go down within the next few days. It looks like you’ve already been taking care of it well. So you should be okay.”

“That’s great.” I smiled relieved. “Thank you.”

“Thank you.” Drake added.

The doctor looked over at him and smiled.

“Oh, is this your husband?” She questioned curious. “He’s very handsome.”

“N-no!” I stammered. “He’s a really good friend.”

Drake from me to the doctor shocked. Then he looked down at the floor.

“Well that’s very kind of him to come with you.” She said rubbing her hand down my arm. “Have a good day you too.”

She opened the door and followed us out. Drake held onto me to stable me. In the car I turned on the radio to avoid any more embarrassing moments between us.

Then I reached inside my backpack for a chocolate chip granola bar and in search of my phone. I pulled the granola bar out and frantically began searching for my phone.
