Unapologetically in Love

"Hails, you ready?" you yell up the steps. You and Hailee are about to head to her parents house for family dinner. 

"I'm coming" Hailee replies back as she comes down the stairs. She is wearing just a pair of sweets and a half shirt showing off her tone tan abs. As she nears the bottom step you reach out and put your arms at her waist allowing your eyes to look her up and down. 

"You really want to torture me all evening don't you." you say with a smirk on your face. 

"I don't know what you're talking about." Hailee replied with a sly giggle in her voice. 

"uh huh sure you don't." you reply allowing your finger tips to trace up and down the definition of her abs. Hailee leans in and quickly gives you a quick peck on the lips and grabs her purse on her way to the front door. 

"You coming?" she asks looking back over her shoulder. 

"Not right now but ask me again later." you say jokingly as you follow her out to the car. You both jump in the car and head off to her parents, first stopping to grab some wine. The car ride is short but you couldn't help but keep looking over at the girl next to you in the front seat. You couldn't help but smile every time you glance over. How did you get so lucky to fall in love with someone so beautiful. Someone who wanted the same future with you as you did her. Hailee's hand has been slowly tracing up and down your thigh the whole car ride. You reach down and grab her hand in yours, bringing it to your lips to place a gentle kiss on it. 

"I love you." 

"I love you too Y/N". 

You pull the car into the driveway and head inside. Cheri and Pete were in the kitchen preparing dinner when you arrived. They immediately stop what they are doing and come and greet with tight hugs. 

"Where's Griffin?" Hailee asks. 

"He can't make it today, he has some car thing that he is preparing for, so it'll just be the four of us." Pete replied as he went back to seasoning the meat for the grill. 

"Is there anything I can help with?" you ask. 

"We have it all taken care of, you and Hailee just go and relax and we will call when dinner is ready." Cheri said as she started mixing up the salad. 

"Come on babe, I want to show you something." Hailee says as she takes your hand and starts to lead you upstairs. She leads you into her bedroom. Your mind instantly goes into the gutter. 

"Hailee, we can't do this, your parents are just downstairs!" 

"Relax! I really do want to show you something." Hailee heads over to her dresser, opening up the top drawer and pulls out a small box. She peaks into the box before shutting it again, her back still to you so you can't exactly see what is going on.  You take a seat on the edge of the bed. Hailee turns to face you and takes a seat next to you on the bed. 

"Today has been one of the best days I've had in a while." Hailee says staring down at the box in her hands. You aren't sure why but she seems nervous. "I've never felt so comfortable with someone to sit and actually imagine a future together, but with you I do. Today in the hammock, laying there with you, the future we talked about felt as if it could actually happen, that it wasn't just a hypothetical dream."

"It is definitely possible, Hailee. I wouldn't have talked about it if it wasn't something I truly want." you interrupt. 

"I know and that's why I called my mom before we left the house to get this ready." Hailee says as she holds up the small box. Hailee moves off the bed and kneels down on the floor in front of you. 

"Y/N, There is so much I want to do in my life with you and I want you to know how serious I am about you."

You look at Hailee confused and shocked. You haven't been together for a year yet, can she really be proposing?!? 

"I know what you're thinking Y/N, This isn't what you are thinking so please don't freak out."

You release the breathe you were holding, "Than what is this?" you ask. 

Hailee opens the box to review a silver band ring with a small diamond. 

"I thought you said thi..." you start to say. 

"Promise. I want  to kneel before you and offer this ring as my promise to you that I am in love with you and that I will do everything I can to make the future we want happen. I promise to make sure we always have our lazy hammock days and time for us to just be together. Will you promise to do the same and take this ring?" 

Your eyes start to tear up. 

"Of course I promise that. I promise to always put you and I first." 

Hailee grabs the ring out of the box and slides it onto your finger. You grab her hands and stand her up as you stand up. You instantly pull her into a tight hug, pulling back only to kiss her deeply and filled with love. You take a step back and look down at your hand admiring the ring on your finger. 

"Do you like it?" Hailee asks. 

"of course! I love it. I love you!" 

"I love you too Y/N".

"You know we do have a problem though..." you say. 

"what's that?" Hailee asks back confused. 

"I don't have a ring for you to wear. You need a ring too." 

"I think this might help." You and Hailee both jump a little from hearing Cheri's voice at the door. Cheri walks over holding out a ring. 

"This was your great grandmas. I've been holding onto it to give to you when the time is right. I don't think there is a better time than right now." Cheri says as she hands out the ring to you. 

You grab the ring from her hand and turn back to look at Hailee. 

"So Hails, what do you say? Will you wear this as a symbol of your promise to me?" 

"I've never been more sure of anything. I promise." 

You slide the ring onto her finger and lean in and give her a kiss. Cheri comes over and hugs you both. 

"Heyyy why wasn't I invited to this group hug?" Pete suddenly appears at the door. 

"Come on over dad, join in." 

After a big group hug, Pete pulls away, "Well I came up here to tell everyone dinner was done." 

"Wait wait, I want a family picture." Hailee says as she pulls out her phone. The four of you gather together as Hailee snaps a group shot. 

"I think it's time I post this online and let everyone know how happy and in love I am." 

"You sure?" you ask. 

"As long as you are ok with it." Hailee replies back. 

"I promise." you say back. With that Hailee posts the picture to instagram with the caption 

"I Promise. ❤️ my heart is yours Y/N. ---- Yes, my loves, this is me coming out and I couldn't be happier to do it with anyone else by my side."

She looks over at you. 

"No going back now." she said the nerves of what she just did settling in. 

"They are going to love and support you no matter what Hails, so am I. We're in this together I promise."
