It was for the first time, that a father refused to talk to his princess.
It was the first time, that the beautiful eyes were pool of tears, and her parents ignored her.
She was neglected, as her parents, walked to their room, without a glance at her.
She had made up her mind to apologize to her parents, first thing in the morning.
But to her dismay, she was completely ignored at the breakfast table, and was treated as if she does not exist.
Her parents had taken a blame on themselves. They were of the opinion that, it was their fault that she had turned into a self obsessed person. It was their fault that she had no filter in her mouth and no respect for anyone else.
She was still in denial that it was her fault. She never wanted to insult anyone, she just acted upon her instincts. And she was ready to apologize. But her parents never gave her a chance to say that.Everyone expected Veer to be in his room. But when his family came home, they were shocked to know that he did not turn up at all. Vihaan was quick to call their other properties, and found his assumptions correct, when the security of one of the properties, told him about Veer being safe inside.
Vihaan tried calling him, and all the calls were diverted to voicemail. Tired and frustrated, Vihaan cursed the unfortunate evil girl, who was responsible for the miserable condition of his baby brother. As expected, Veer did not turn up to office. But he came back home and locked himself up in his room. It was because, Soniya was successful in coaxing him. She had made a successful attempt to contact him through security and threatened him to drop the kids at his place. He was aware that, handling the tantrums of the younger one, without Soniya, was a task, which would cost him his remaining mental sanity. He let his mother in his room, when she was consistently knocking, and he gave her nothing but a blank emotion less face.
He was too hurt. His ego, self esteem was crushed brutally. All because of an unknown girl, in the first ever meeting. He refused to come down for any meals and his mother, Reena, brought his meals in his room. She was very persuasive and made him eat a few morsels. Even the kids playing around could not elevate his dampened mood.
Everyone in the family was troubled and thoughtful around him. He could not sleep the entire previous night.
That evening, Veer was trying to concentrate on a random book, when there was a knock on the door of his bedroom. He did not answer and sighed deeply in frustration. All he wanted was some peace of mind.
But the peace of mind and piece of mind, both seemed to be too expensive at the moment for him to afford.
He got up in frustration to answer the persistent knocking. It was a maid, standing there with fearful eyes. He blinked, feeling bad for the girl. She was suffering for no fault of her. He closed his eyes once, for a moment, to calm himself.
"Yes?" he asked in a calmer tone.
"You are expected downstairs, Sir. Someone is there to see you." the maid replied in a small voice.
"Please tell them, I am not available." saying this, he was about to shut the door, when she replied, "Your mother has requested you to come down."
Veer closed his eyes in frustration.
With an affirmative answer, the maid was happily back to work.
Veer freshened up and brushed his hair, looking and feeling better, he walked down the stairs.
He was more than surprised to see the guests. It was Mr. And Mrs. Verma sitting there with apologetic expression. Everyone looked up at him as he came down. He once glanced at the guests and then at his mother, raising his eyebrows in question.
"Have a seat Veer, they want to talk to you." she pleaded.
Without a word, Veer settled himself in the single seater sofa. He was anticipating that they would ask for an explanation. He was mentally prepared to not give any justification for something he never did.
The Verma couple glanced at each other and then looked at Veer, who had an unexplainable expression on his face.
"We are here to apologize on behalf of our daughter. I am completely aware that the allegations she made were completely baseless. She acted on her instincts and that we were utterly disappointed. The damage was irreparable, but I hope you have the heart to forgive her and us too."
Veer blinked, giving away nothing. He took a moment to understand the words said by Mr. Verma.
"Why do you apologize?" Veer asked after a moment of silence.
"Because it was our mistake. We loved and pampered her too much, that she misbehaved with you." Mr. Verma replied.
Veer again went silent.
"Say something." Mr. Verma said, when Veer was silent for too long.
"You may not like whatever I want to say." he replied.
"You have all the right." Mr. Verma assured him.
Veer looked away for a moment, blinking. The Verma couple was waiting with a bated breath, for his reply.
"How do I know that you are sure those were just allegations? How do i know, that you trust me of being clean?" Veer asked in utter seriousness.
Mr. Verma looked flabbergasted.
"You want me to prove that to you?""Yes." Veer replied.
"How?" Mr. Verma asked.
Veer waited for moment to contemplate how determined Mr. Verma was to prove his point.
"I would tell you how. You have two choices. Either Yes or No. Your answer will determine, how much you mean your words and apology." Veer said, looking in his eyes.
Vihaan's heart filled with dread. He instantly knew, this was not going to end up well.
"You have my words Veer. It was my daughter's mistake and I am ready to take its full responsibility. It's a yes, without listening to your condition." Mr. Verma assured him.
Veer gave a sly smile.
"Great. I still want to marry your daughter." Veer said with all the confidence in his voice.
Mr. Verma chuckled.
"I would have sent her as your maid too, for staining your virtue. She deserves that. You can decide the time and place. I will hand over my daughter to you as your wife. But you have to remember, this was a mistake and she was and always will be my princess."
Veer smiled satisfied.
"Within a week."_--------------------------------
