Gordon x Reader
Short summary: Gordon is being a wholesome boyfriend and is cooking breakfast for you!

You wake up from a pleasant dream. Well you assume it was pleasant, you immediately forgot what it was about upon waking up.

The first thing to greet you was the warmth of your comfortable bed and the smell of pancakes making it's way to your nostrils.
Fresh, most likely fluffy pancakes, with a hint of some other sweet ingredients that you couldn't quite put your finger on.

Opening your eyes, the room is covered in a soft golden glow due to the curtains being slightly parted. A few rays of sunlight make contact with your skin, welcoming you back into the world you were used to.

With a sigh escaping your lips you slowly get up from the bed and throw something comfy on.
Not a lot of thought was put into it, just a simple T-shirt/tank top and some comfy shorts, plus a pair of cozy socks because yes.

Who cares if it looks awkwardly thrown together? Your house, your rules.

From there you open the door and get greeted by Kitten, your boyfriend's cat.
It was already purring by now, beginning to rub its face directly onto your legs, that was always their way of greeting people.
You bent down and scratched Kitten behind their ear, to which they purred a little louder.

You didn't stay for long though, you had some pancakes to get to.
Releasing another breath you stand up and begin to walk down the stairs which lead to the main hallway.
Kitten follows you as they always like to do. The small silent feline manages to skip some steps on their way down, getting at the last step much quicker than you.
Then again Kitten never really liked those stairs anyway.

Once you've reached the bottom of the stairs the smell of pancakes hits you much harder, which was a welcome surprise.
By now you could hear all of the different noises that were coming from the kitchen.
Sizzling, some utensils being used, barely audible footsteps, and a very soft humming.
Walking over, you peek your head through the doorway into the kitchen.

And there he was.

Gordon Freeman, a hardworking dad and also your boyfriend, wearing a mint-colored apron as he stands in front of the stove.
He was the one humming a quiet melody, it felt familiar but not from a particular song.

Something you noticed quickly was that his hair wasn't in a ponytail like it usually was, this time it flowed freely onto his shoulder. It moved smoothly yet independently as he did.

Suddenly Kitten moved before you could and ran over to the counter, pawing at Gordon's foot.

"H-huh!? Wha-"

He flinches and looks down at his foot, he swore he could see a smug grin on the black and white feline's face.
You couldn't help but chuckle at the rather adorable scene, which made him turn to look at you.

You were admittedly left slightly breathless for a moment upon seeing his face directly.
Damn, the sunlight hitting him directly on one side of his face really made him look extra magical...

"O-oh, good morning, hun."
He managed to choke out, a light blush covering his features in embarrassment.

Your heart melted a little every time he called you a nickname. He had come up with so many yet all of them always managed to make you feel so special.

"Good morning, Gordy... Say, why're you up so early?"

His face went from one of embarrassment to one of confusion, though a smile made its way to his lips.

"Y/N, it's 12:23 in the afternoon, you know that right?"
"Uhhhhh no I did not-"
"Heh... Cute."
"How dare you."

You both get embarrassed and pretend like that didn't just happen. Gordon turns back to the pancakes he was making, meanwhile Kitten suddenly grabs your attention as they walk past you into a different room.

Shaking your head a little you walk over to the fridge you grab a glass, filling it up with your favorite cold beverage and taking a small sip before speaking once again.

"So... What's cookin' good lookin'?"

Even though he was facing away from you, you could tell he playfully rolled his eyes.

"Just some pancakes, I was gonna bring them to you-"
"Breakfast in bed?"
"Yup."
"Aww, you're too nice to me."

You set your now empty glass down and walk over to him, wrapping your arms around his waist from behind.

He flinched slightly, but other than that his focus kept being on the pancakes.

"You've had breakfast yourself, right?"

He simply let out a hum in response, which was enough reassurance for you.
Looking over at his face, you could tell a soft smile had ghosted its way onto it.

You watched him delicately flip over the final pancake, it was nice and fluffy, the outside now being a nice tanned and brown color.

You placed a small kiss on his cheek, which you can tell made him blush once more.

He turned his head to make slight eye contact with you.
"You go ahead and sit at the table, hun, I'll bring your food over."
"You sure?"
"Mhm."

You sigh gently, unwrapping your arms from Gordon and starting to make your way towards the living room. Before you can completely step out of the doorway, Gordon suddenly called out to you again.

"Shit! I forgot, what toppings do you want?"
You stopped for a second and turned your head to the side so your voice would be a little clearer.

"Uhhhh, (Insert favorite pancake topping/preferred topping here) would be nice."
"I'll see if we have some left!"

You chuckled, about to continue on your way to the living room, though you felt it was only right to include one more thing.

"Oh and um... Thanks, Gordon."
You heard him shuffling some things around before answering.
"Anytime, darling."
You felt your heart flutter slightly as a smile made its way to your face.

Gordon might be a little OOC here but I mean then again he's never this calm in the series-
But I mean mans deserves to finally have some peace and quiet with his S/O.

Also wow finally an update amiright-
