Layla's POV:

The atmosphere in the air seemed as if it had tightened around my neck since I was having a hard time breathing.

And then, it struck me.

Nobody knew about that night except me and her.

All I had to do was stay my distances from her and avoid her at all cost.

Licking my lips, I let the student talk among themselves since it was homeroom. I started to get my papers organized so when my first class started I would be prepared.

As I was organizing my papers, I felt as if someone was watching me and subconsciously, I looked up to see who it was.

It was none other than Jade.

Chewing on the inside of my cheek, I watched as she raised her hand. I started to debate with myself whether or not I should ask what was wrong, however, after a couple of seconds, I sighed and opened my mouth to speak.

"Yes Foster?"

As I called upon her name, the students slowly stop talking to see what she wanted to ask.

"Well, I was wondering if you could talk about yourself since I had to."

Raising one my eyebrows, I tried to see what kind of angle she was trying to play. Walking around to stand in front of my desk, I opened my mouth to speak up but was soon interrupted by another voice.

"Yea Ms. Winters tell us about yourself." Another student said.

Turning my head to see who it was, I noticed that it was Greg, a student I had from last year.

"Oh I believe you guys know plenty but very well, ask away."

Automatically hands flew up, especially the boys.

Looking around, I picked on a random boy I didn't know.

"You married?" The boy asked with a smirk.

"No, not at the moment." I said as I awkwardly shook my head.

"Um how about you." I said as I turned to pick on another boy.

"Are you looking to date, cause I'm available." A boy said, followed by low mumbles among the boys.

Smiling, I tilted my head.

"Im into men not boys, also, inappropriate by the way."

"Ohs" could be heard among the guys.

"So what I'm hearing is, maybe when I'm 18?" The same boy asked.

"Ok let me rephrase, I'm into men who aren't born in your time and again highly inappropriate, one more and I'm sending you to the office." I said and with that I turned around and picked on a girl instead.

"Are you in your early 20s or late 20s?"

"Um I'm 25." I said as I scratched the back of my neck.

As I continued to answer people questions, I noticed that Jade had her hand up the entire time, however, I was trying to avoid her question since I didn't want to be put on the spot by it.

I eagerly watched the clock ticked on by and I was praying for it to ring since less and less people had their hands up to ask a question.

Just as the last question was answered, I noticed Jade's hand was the only one up.

Taking a big deep and exhaling it, I started to say her last name but the bell finally rang.

"Thank the Lord." I said to myself.
