Jade's Pov:
"So exactly what did you do that you got your phone taken from you?"
Shrugging my shoulder lightly, I kept my eyes glued on the road ahead of us. My aunt was anything but pleased that she had to come to my school to retrieve my phone. She did, however, do a good job at masking how she felt. When I had gotten home from school yesterday I spent the rest of the afternoon waiting for my aunt to return. When she finally did come back from the club, she was surprised to see that I was up, waiting for her. She asked me if everything was okay and when I told her about my phone, she eased up.
She must have thought I was in trouble or something.
"Well, am I going to be hearing anything else from your teacher?" Olivia asked me, trying to steal a glance my way.
Once again I only shrugged my shoulders.
"I don't know what else there is to talk about," I responded, not making eye connect with Olivia.
In all honesty, I didn't truly believe Layla would spend much time speaking with Olivia because after our conversation yesterday, she didn't even glance once my way. Thankfully we had finished all the paperwork that needed to be done for the month. I could see her physically relax when I told her we were free of the boxes for a while. If years could be taken off a person, she would have been my age again.
Layla wasted no time in putting the boxes away and leaving her classroom as if it was on fire. She didn't even seem to realize that she had left her classroom unlocked. She also didn't even bother making sure I had left the classroom with her. The only thing that indicated that I was indeed following her was my footsteps echoing throughout the empty hallway. She simply led the way to the entrance of the school before heading to the teacher parking lot, not once making eye connect with me.
That frustrated me to no end, however, I simply watched as she walked farther away from me. Me being me, I was spiteful, so as soon as I could no longer see her again, I turned right back around to her classroom.
Obviously, the sole purpose of it was to find the exam she said she wasn't going to give me. What I ended up finding though was way more interesting, to say the least.
From the gecko, I knew she wouldn't have had her exam laying around but instead on her computer. Every time we had an exam or quiz, she would excuse herself for a few minutes in homeroom to print them out. It was a small little detail about her that I picked up on.
The only problem though was, her computer was password-protected.
Not one to get discouraged I ended up calling Tiffany who knew way more about computers than me. Thankfully, Layla also forgot to lock her drawers so I was able to use my phone. It took every fiber in my being not to just grab it and walk away, but if I did, Layla would know I was back in her classroom without her supervision. She was a bit surprised when I told her that I wanted to get an exam off my teacher's computer but when I explained to her why I needed it, she just laughed at me.
"So what I'm hearing is, I'm 250 dollars richer?"
"Oh come on Tiffany just help me."
"Okay okay, but for 150."
Personally, I didn't blame her for wanting a cut, I would have done the same even if we are friends. Friendship and business are two separate things and no one in my group took it to heart.
I patiently waited for her to give me instructions on how to get into the computer. Her end however, was quiet for a few minutes with me waiting for her to tell me what to do. The only reason I knew the phone call didn't drop was because I could still hear noises coming from her end.
