JUSTIN’S POV

“Good morning Justin.” A doctor greeted brightly. I just nodded, allowing him to get on with his work of checking my IV and various other tasks. “How are you feeling today?” he asked, brushing down my blanket to check my bandage. I winced in pain, as he applied a little pressure to the stitches, but I refused to complain.

“I’m fine.” I assured him, doing my best not to slap his hand away. “When can I see Sarah again?” I asked, unable to hide the urgency in my voice. “Is she doing alright?”

Giving me a light smile, he nodded. “She’s doing just fine. Now Justin-“

“Has she been eating enough?” I fussed, clenching my grip on the covers.

“Yes she is. We have food brought to her three times a day. But right now I have some questions for you.” he insisted. I nodded allowing him to continue. “Have you been-“

“She can’t straighten her left arm all the way. About two years ago Daddy broke it at the elbow and now she can’t straighten it completely. Is there anything you can do about that?” My leg began to shake under the covers. I couldn’t take it anymore; I had to see her. I had to make sure she was okay and safe. I hated being so restricted it was worse than when we were with Daddy. “ She’s going to insist she’s fine, but she’s not. I know it still hurts her you have to believe me. She needs her arm looked at.” I pled, feeling my whole body begin to shake uncontrollably.

“Justin please calm down.” He begged calmly, pressing his hands lightly into my shoulders in attempt to get me to settle down.

“Don’t touch me!” I shouted instantly, jabbing him in the chest with my elbow. My abdomen burned in pain, causing me to curl back into the bed in agony, as the doctor griped his chest. “Stay. Back.” I grit through my teeth, hardly able to breath through the pain. My shaking hands sprung to my side, clenching around the aching stitches.

Struggling to regain my composure, I heard more feet stampede in. As I opened my eyes I noticed two more doctors, on girl one boy, in the doorway with the original one rubbing his chest beside them. “What happened?” The male asked. He was slightly overweight with red hair messily thrown across his head. “Dr. Arnold are you alright?” he asked, when no one responded.

“I’m fine.” He assured him, shooing him away. “It was my fault. I promise.” He shot me a sympathetic look and nodded, as if it were is apology. “Dr. Ross.” He said, motioning for the female doctor with long auburn hair to come over beside him. “Check on his stitched alright? He might have pulled one of them.” He ordered, shooting a quick glance to me.

With a confused look on her face she nodded and began to walk towards me. As she did Dr. Arnold shooed everyone out of the room, leaving me alone with Dr. Ross. “Care to explain what happened?” she smirked, as she lightly removed some of my bandages. I just shook my head and buried my face into the pillow, trying to hide my pain. I couldn’t admit to what had happened. I’d freaked out and attacked a doctor who was just trying to help me. I just wouldn’t help it. “He forgives you.” She assured me, as if reading my mind. I gave her a confused look. “He knows you’ve been through a lot, and I’m sure whatever you did was justified. Believe me Dr. Arnold is never one to hold a grudge especially with a patient.” She smiled, placing the bandage back down. “Good news. You didn’t screw any of your stitches up. “ I nodded and watched silently as she stood up to leave.

“Can you do me a favor?” I asked, as she neared the door.

She turned happily towards me. “Yes?”

“Can you… can you just make sure that Sarah’s left arm gets looked at? It’s hurt and well… make sure she’s okay.” I mumbled, thinking about how scared she probably was. The last time I’d seen her she was a wreck. I just needed her to be okay.

Giving me a peaceful nod she smiled. “Of course. Justin we have some of the best doctors here making sure that you both are fine and can leave as soon as possible. Sarah will be fine I promise. You just need to worry about yourself okay?” I nodded as she left once more, but I couldn’t agree to what she’d said. I couldn’t stop worrying about Sarah. I needed her to be alright and I needed to be there. I’d dedicated eight years of my life to her and I wasn’t stopping then. Sarah I am going to protect you.
