-Later that night-
I sat outside talking to Shailee.
"How's everything going?" she asked.
"Everything's good, I guess." I said.
"Is everything alright?" she asked worried.
"Yeah, everything's going well." I said, "Well, I kinda ran into a guy today. He was pretty cute." I smiled.
"Oh my gosh, you ran into a cute Australian boy, jealous." she teased.
"Shut uppp!" I laughed, "How's everything back home?"
"Same as it always is." she said, "Tyler had a party last night at his house since his parents were out of town. And, let me say, he wasn't acting like he had a girlfriend at all. Tell me you broke up with him."
"N-No I didn't." I said quietly, "What was he doing?"
"Just- being a giant manwhore. Dancing all over a lot of women and you know how he is." she said, "Why are you even with him still anyways? He's just going to go and cheat on you, break your heart and then you'll have no one to help you with your broken heart because you're thousands of miles away from me."
"Is it hard to believe that I love him?" I asked getting frustrated.
"I believe you, but he's just not treating you the way that you deserve, and I want better for you." she said.
I sighed, "I'm going to go to bed, I'm tired."
"Okay goodbye." she said and hung up.
"Is everything alright, Caroline?" my mom asked from the doorway.
"Yeah mom, everything's fine." I said looking away.
"Caroline, I know you're upset about us taking you away from your father, but it's for you best-" she started.
"Mom don't start that. It's just a popularity contest with your sister. She doesn't like my father for god knows why, and she drug you away from him and now she's drug me away from him." I yelled, "He was getting better, mom."
"Sweetie-" she said quietly.
"No mom, please. Just leave me alone right now, alright?" I asked.
"Okay Caroline, but know that I'm trying to help you." she said before walking back inside and closing the door.
I sighed and stood; walking back towards the front of the house.
"Hey, you." I heard from behind me.
I turned around and saw a boy around my age leaning against the gate.
"Oh uhm hi?" I questioned.
"You alright?" he asked.
"Uhm y-yeah; I'm fine." I stuttered looking at the ground.
"You don't seem fine." he said.
"Aren't you observant?" I asked bitterly.
"I'm just trying to help." he said simply.
"What if I don't want any help?" I asked, "I don't even know your damn name, do you think I'd tell you my life story?"
"No, I don't think so." he shook his head, "But let's change that, huh?"
I looked up at him quickly, "What?"
