Picture: Take a wild guess.
"Oh my God, I'm so sorry!" The sudden impact of the clash made the person I bumped into drop his phone and water bottle.
I immediately bent down to help him pick it up. I'm such a klutz, I should have watched where I was going.
"It's alright," He replied and straightened up.
But this stranger was no ordinary stranger though, he was one sent from the Heavens. I'm pretty sure I stood there, at the busy entrance of the gym, staring at him for three minutes or so.
His face looked extremely, alarmingly familiar. It's like I knew exactly who he was, but I also didn't at the same time because my brain was not co-operating with me. Do you ever get that feeling when you're trying exceptionally hard to remember a piece of important information, but nothing seems to be recalled? Well that was my case.
"Sorry again," I mumbled shyly when I managed to cease the staring contest. He cocked his head to the side and gave me a knowing look.
"Do I know you from somewhere?" He asked as he studied my features slightly. I couldn't believe he also thought that he recognized me as well.
"Probably, because I was just thinking the same thing." I confessed with a shy smile.
He laughed and shook his head slightly. "It's a small world."
"True," I replied. I could feel the color rising to my cheeks.
"Thanks anyway. And sorry for bumping into you." He added.
"Oh no, if anything, I'm the one who should be sorry." I told him kindly as I tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
He shot me a handsome smile before he walked out of the gym. I stood there, completely frozen and experiencing heavy post "I-just-saw-a-Greek-God" syndrome.
I had decided to quickly stop by the gym to visit Melissa and catch up with her after work. She spends a lot of time at the gym during the late afternoon, as it was a way to de-stress herself and forget about her problems.
"Mia, there you are!" She exclaimed as she walked towards me with a towel slung over her shoulders.
"Hi! Wanna get out of here?" I suggested quickly. She raised an eyebrow at me.
"Why the rush?"
"I'm not rushing. This gym smells really bad, is all." I lied. It was actually the opposite. It smelled of lime air freshener and rubber gym equipment.
"You're weird today. Did Andrew drug your coffee?" She joked as she gave me a slight shove. We started to make our way to the lockers.
"You wish that was the case." I rolled my eyes and sat down on one of the benches as she fished out her belongings from her locker.
"What time is it?" She asked me. I glanced at my watch.
"5:47 PM," I told her.
"I'm really late. Dave and Jimmy are probably going to cook me for dinner, or something." Predicted Melissa. She gathered all her stuff and we checked out at the main reception.
"My car's at the repair shop, so can you give me a ride?" She asked as we walked to the spot where my Ford was parked.
"Do I have a choice?" I replied as I unlocked the car and slid in. She did the same, but carelessly deposited her items in the back seat.
"Seatbelt, please." I gave her a pointed look. Melissa sighed and strapped herself. We cruised our way downtown, past the busy late afternoon L.A traffic and into the quiet, home-y compound where Melissa lived.
