"Would you relax?" a voice said in the darkness, "I didn't hit him THAT hard."

"You know he doesn't know?!" a different voice said, "Why would we bring him here when he was just getting control of his life?!"

"Would you just take a chill pill already?" the first voice asked.

Carlos opened his eyes and groaned at the pain in his head. What happened? Why did his head hurt so bad? Carlos let his eyes adjust to the darkness and froze he saw the two people standing by the door of the room. Giving him space, but blocking his way out.

That was when panic set in.

How long was he out?! Where was he?! Where were the others?! Where's Sammy?!

Carlos was on the brink of an anxiety attack.

"Kid, relax."

Carlos was blinded by a light coming on in the room. He let his eyes readjust and took in the room he was in. He was in a surprisingly comfy bed in a pretty dull room. It was a blank grey room with concrete walls and floors and no windows. It still surprisingly had a comforting aura about it.

He looked up, and he realized that it was the two girls from earlier.

"Get away the heck away from me!" Carlos yelled, scampering back towards the wall behind him.

He felt like a caged animal, his abilities wanting him to defend himself from this threat. But he couldn't.

It was too dangerous.

Carlos pushed his abilities back, still being just as painful as when he first started refusing to use his abilities when he suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked and saw the black tank-top girl. How did she get there so fast? Was she a speedster like Xylein?

"Don't push them down," she said in an emotionless voice, "Doing that can cause lasting damage."

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Carlos said flatly, ripping his arm out of the girl's grip.

His abilities were at bay... for now.

"My name is Amelia," the girl said before pointing at the other girl from before, "And that over there is Gretel."

Gretel waved and gave a friendly smile towards Carlos. That did help calm his nerves a little. He still did not like knowing where he was and what they wanted from him.

"We are not going to hurt you," Amelia continued, Carlos looking her in the eyes, "We are here to help."

Carlos stared intently into her eyes. She didn't appear to be lying. But he couldn't read her aura. He's always been able to read a person's aura. Why can't he read hers?

"I don't need your help," Carlos looked away from Amelia's gaze and ignored her as she sat down on the bed, "Just take me back."

Carlos could feel his abilities pushing against his walls, feeling the need to try and scare Amelia away. Carlos fought against them, the pain ten times worse than it usually was.

"Stop."

Carlos froze and looked at Amelia. She grabbed Carlos' hand and was looking him dead in the eyes.

"You are killing yourself by doing this," Amelia whispered, "You don't need to be afraid to use your abilities."

Carlos felt his heart stop. Could he die from not using his abilities?

"You are safe here to use your abilities," Amelia added, letting go of Carlos' hand and giving him his space back.

"You don't understand," Carlos mumbled, looking down at his hands.
