They walked in, and everyone shuddered simultaneously. The air was a lot colder than the hallway. Carlos could see his breath from the cold of the room. Kat conjured fire in her hands. Carlos and Taylor drew towards Kat to stay warm. They looked through a giant window in front of them, finally seeing where the cold was coming from.
There was a man with bleach blonde hair and piercing blue eyes handcuffed to a table. He appeared to be in his late twenties, and he seemed to be staring off into space, confirming the one-way mirror.
"He has shown to have ice abilities," Wallace said, grabbing a file from a nearby table, "His birth name is unknown, his background is unknown, his previous occupations are unknown.
"He claims to have worked in an office building downtown but was never seen on any security feeds," Amelia growled, obviously annoyed by what little information they had, "The only thing we know for sure is his code name "IceBreaker".
Gretel turned to Carlos, squatting to his level, "You don't have to do this. You can always say no, or just leave the room whenever you want."
Carlos took a deep breath, giving Gretel his best smile, "Don't worry, I know you won't let anything happen."
"I'll be in there with you the whole time," Amelia said giving Carlos a reassuring smile, "So if he does try anything, I'll be there."
Carlos gave a weary smile to Amelia.
"Take this," Gretel pulled out a dark blue mask to cover around Carlos' eyes. Carlos took it from her, slightly confused.
Amelia unlocked the door, "You must never let him know anything about you, including what you look like. If he were to get free with that information, you're a goner. Understood?"
Carlos nodded in understanding, putting the mask on his face. Carlos walked in and shivered against the cold. The man looked up at him and Amelia, who had closed the door behind them, a buzz being heard.
"Hello Icebreaker," Amelia said in a dark-toned voice, "Miss me any?"
The man didn't say a word. He just turned away with a look of disgust.
"Friendly as ever," Amelia grumbled, "Anyways, I have a new friend with me here today." Amelia turned towards Carlos, gesturing for him to say something.
Carlos thought Amelia was gonna give him a code name, he didn't think he was gonna have to think of one.
"Uh..." Carlos began panicking, trying to think of anything he could call himself. He was about to ask Amelia for help when he remembered all of his little pranks, "Trickster."
Amelia gave him a nod, keeping a stoic look on her face.
Icebreaker huffed, "Oh joy, another piece of trash needing to be thrown out."
Carlos' jaw dropped at what Icebreaker just said. Didn't the man realize that he was talking to a kid?!
"Wow," Amelia growled, not seeming to like Icebreaker's words, "The ice queen can speak. For a while there I thought you were mute."
Icebreaker scoffed and lowered his head, not speaking another word.
"Now, we've got some questions for you," Amelia gestures for Carlos to take the chair in front of Icebreaker. Carlos prepared himself, entering Icebreaker's mind with ease despite not doing so since he was younger. Icebreaker was chuckling to himself, thinking he had nothing to worry about.
"I wouldn't get cocky," Carlos said out of habit. Icebreaker looked at him with confusion for a moment before scoffing at him again.
"First, the easiest questions you could answer," Amelia snarked, holding a paper of questions, "What is your birth-given name?"
