Reminding that it's chapter 44, this will be the by far, longest chapter of HMH (the length, not the word count, I don't think so). I love you guys, every read and support means so much. Have fun!

"And this is the kitchen."
I tried to stifle a laugh as I watched Max show me the form of their kitchen, where Helena was furiously making lunch.
"And my awesome Helena."
She turned around in cue with a big smile. She looked so worn out, but she was happy. She's so different to grandma May, but reminded me so much of her. "Come in, come in! I knew you'd come here at some point! As soon as Max told me that you were coming, I got planning! How does fried rice and devil sound?"
My mouth was already drooling, if she could tell. The smell was evident from the front door and I couldn't wait, but I didn't want to sound like an idiot. "Great, do you need any help?"
"Nope!" She clapped her hands, shooing us. "Get something to drink from the freezer at the back. I have a young friend I know coming over to help."
So that's how we ended up sitting on the platted chairs at the backyard of Helena's house with a can of coke in each of our hands. Max had his legs spread on my thigh because they still hurt some time after walking a week of sitting around in the hospital bed.
So, yes, he was okay.
I was there when he woke up, on the sofa on the opposite side of the room, snoring my ass out, apparently. Helena called me over and when I realised that my man was awake, I was at his side in a heart beat, taking his hand in mine, the tears rushing out before I even knew it.
"Don't you fucking do that to me ever again," I remember swearing. And then I was jumping onto him because I wanted to hug him so badly. Helena made sure I didn't crush his lungs back in. I didn't plan for it to happen anyway.
Then, when Helena talked to him and the doctors were sure that he was okay and now, just had to rest and heal, I got my time with him.
The first thing I did was kiss him for good five seconds. Then I realised that he needed to brush his teeth if he wanted any more from me.
After, I recited everything that happened. From the part when I had him in my arm at the side of the road, the driver apologising every two seconds, to the part where Mason was pissed that I was dating him.
He seemed surprised that so many things happened, while all I could think was how agonising the two and a half days had been with no major changes. Then I realised that we didn't have to stay in the place any more. Until the doctor came in and said that they needed to keep him in more until he's okay to move around for sure.
Which also meant that the rest of the break was spent there and the Friday Max came back home was three days from school starting again. Helena didn't plan to let him go for two more days anyways. Then I decided to finally visit and say a proper hello to her on Sunday.
Max got his gift from our friends a few days after he woke up. He was annoyed that they got him another guitar but I knew he was secretly happy.
Mum and dad gave him flowers, because they heard that it made the weak feel better to grow stronger. Katie just apologised that she was always staring daggers at him for a while, while Mason gave him a silent treatment that lasted for a day.
