We went into the chateau and made our way to my room, we lied on the bed not saying much until JJ broke the silence
"You know we're going to have to talk about it," JJ said referring to what he saw earlier on
"Mhm" I reply bringing my body into my arms
"What happened Mave?" he asked me forcing eye contact
"I don't know j I was angry and upset I didn't think" tears welled in my eyes knowing that wasn't the reason
"Darling I know that's not why," JJ said to me gripping my hand
"J I can't say it," I say feeling defeated
"You need to try sweetheart I know it's been happening for quite a while" he spoke knowing that if I finally got it out of my head it would help me
"Erm well" I begin to speak choking on my words
"It's ok I'm here" he murmured gently in my ear
I knew I was going to be completely transparent with him but I didn't want to overload
"It started when my parents died I felt alone Amaia was spending most of her time with Sarah leaving me out of her frame of mind and I found myself left with my thoughts for too long and it became a way to cope, but it got better when I was with rafe cause he made me feel stable." I knew I was going to struggle to tell him the next bit because no one actually knew how it ended with Rafe not even Maia
"Erm well Rafe kind of raped me" I blurt out just trying to get it over and done with
"He raped me and I tried to tell Sarah but she didn't listen and that's why we're not friends" at this point I had begun to waffle, making myself feel like I was oversharing
"Sorry you probably don't want to know all this," I said quickly trying to fix myself up.
He looked angry more than angry actually.
"Did he do anything else to you?" he spoke through gritted teeth
"He erm hit me a few times when he was drunk" I whispered hoping he didn't actually hear. To my dismay, he did hear that his jaw clenching even more.
"But it's ok now I'm fine," I say trying to reassure him
"Mave what the fuck" JJ muttered turning away
"J it's fine honestly it's nothing" i whispered turning towards him
"Mave it's not fine he raped you and hit you and you and god knows what else
