I apologise for the terrible French; I’m using a translator. Not google translate but still an online translator. If you have any tips they will be appreciated. Ahem, Hope you enjoy. Brother AU. Not sure why, but I just felt like it.
Alexander was walking down the hall, on his way to the president’s office to drop off some papers that were due. Sure, they were due in about a couple week’s time, but what’s wrong with working a little overtime to get the job done? Yes, he was many things, a workaholic was a part of said list, though he would disagree. He saw himself as efficient. If he finished papers when they were given, he wouldn’t have to worry about them later. Which resulted in a lack of sleep and social interactions.
He was sorting through the stack of papers when someone grabbed his arm and yanked him into one of the rooms he was passing. He let out a small yelp before looking to the ground, where most of his papers now laid.
Needless to say, he was thoroughly annoyed, and it could be easily seen on his face. Looking back up, he was met with none other than Lafayette. He looked around a bit, realising they were in the break room, and they weren’t the only ones there. “Laf? What on earth-” He questioned before being cut off by the person in question. “Do you know what day it is, mon frère?”
Is that why he was there? To be asked the date? Alex rolled his eyes. “It’s Sunday. The sixteenth. Anything else?” Lafayette raised his eyebrow basically giving him a look that said, ‘are you serious?’. “Vous êtes sérieux? Non! It’s Father’s Day!” [Are you serious? No!]
“Oh.” Alex had, at this point, forgotten about that. His father had walked out on him when he was a child. And when he was around, he was a pretty bad parent. There wasn’t physical abuse, but there was mental abuse and neglect. The two don’t really add up, but that’s what happened.
Anyway, Alex also had no kids, which made this day even more irrelevant to his life. Why Laf was bringing it up was beyond him. “And it’s important because?” At this point he was stooped down, picking up all the papers that had previously fallen. Once he finished, he walked over to one of the tables, Laf following behind, and placed them on it, beginning to reorganize everything.
“Did you get Monsieur Washington anything?”
“Well, I am not his son, therefore I am not obliged to get him anything.”
“That’s wrong but alright… Well, I thought of something we could do. Everyone in the room agreed as well.” He spoke, mentioning to everyone before quickly adding, “Except Maddison. He wanted nothing to do with it.”
Alex stopped what he was doing and looked over to Laf, who had his arms folded and was looking directly at him. Then, he took one look around the room, immediately recognising who was there. They were Hercules, Burr, Madison, and Jefferson. This certainly couldn’t be good.
“What was your idea? Must be bad if you can’t get Madison to agree. But not so bad that you convinced Burr too.”
“Burr wasn’t really willing, but Laf annoyed him into agreeing.” Herc explained with a shrug. Hamilton looked over to Burr who did look rather annoyed. “So it IS that bad.”
“Well, I wouldn’t say it’s that bad, but you can interpret things as you please.” He half defended himself. “You want us to call Washington dad for the day, I’d say it’s bad.” Burr commented.
Hamilton nearly died, right there and then. After a bit, he managed to compose himself, “And you all agreed to this why?”
“I don’t know. I mean he asked, and who am I to say no?” Hurc responded, shrugging as he leant against the wall next to him.
“I didn’t have much of a choice for my own sanity.” Burr stated, looking up from his book only to send a glare Laf’s way.
“I was up to the challenge. Unlike you, apparently.”
“It’s not a challenge, it was supposed to make Mr. Washington happy, Thomas.” Madison chimed in, slightly glaring at him. “Fine. But I think he’s not doing it ‘cause he’s a bit of a puss.” Obviously, this was directed toward Hamilton, as he was looking directly at him from where he sat.
“That’s likely not the reason.” Herc commented. “No. No it’s not. I just find it odd to call your boss ‘dad’.” Hamilton defended himself, only to most of the people in the with expressions that said they didn’t exactly believe him. “Oh, come on mon frère, just une fois?” [Once]
Hamilton didn’t say anything. Just picked up his now organized papers and was about to walk out of the room before stopping. “Just once.” With that he walked out, in the direction of his office rather than Washington’s. “Well, that was easy.”
[Time Skip brought to you by Jen, Say Hi!]
Hamilton was once again working in his office. Doing what work? He’s not sure, he just found something and started working on it. He was rather distracted at the moment. This was mainly due to the stack of papers that he had yet to submit. It was bothering him; this wasn’t something he would do very often. He glanced at the time before determining it was about ten minutes before work would be over.
Hamilton stood up, grabbed his papers, and walked out the door of his office. It took a bit before he actually made it to Washington’s office due to him stretching out his arrival by strolling down the hall. Once he was stood outside the door, he raised his fist to knock, but hesitated. This was due to what he had promised Lafayette earlier that day. No, he had not forgotten. And he knew all too well that Laf would be on his ass if he failed to keep his word.
Sighing a bit, he knocked on the door. Waiting for a bit before hearing a ‘Come in.’ from the other side of the door. He opened the door, stepping in, not bothering to close it behind him. “Good afternoon, sir, I have the papers that you asked to be completed.” Alex said, moving a bit closer to Washington’s desk. He glanced over to Washington, only to be met with a confused look.
“Didn’t I give that yesterday?” He questioned, only to receive a nod from the other. “Yes, and I completed it.” He handed it to Washington who took it and started scanning it over. Alexander simply stood there, nervously playing with the cuffs of his blazer.
“Well, thank you son. If that is all you can leave.” He nodded, spinning on his heels, and headed towards the door. He stopped a bit before answering. “Alright. Thanks dad.” With that, he stepped out and closed the door, letting out a breath he wasn’t aware he was holding. He quickly gathered himself, walking down the hall and back to his office, planning on shutting himself in until the next day. He hadn’t the need to go home and didn’t do it much anyway.
The chances of this having a part two is so needed that it’s not even funny. Though I have not a clue what I would do in it.
