"Hi honey, I'm home" I yell dropping my bags on the floor. I am completely exhausted. I worked at the studio the entire day and the kids seemed to have triple the amount of energy than usual. I love my job though.
"How was work?" he questions as I walk into the kitchen. He comes over and gives me a quick kiss on the lips. I met Noah a year ago and things are going really well, he's good with Misha and he's just generally a great person.
"Good, Audrey made me do extra ballet classes because she was going out so I'm really tired" I yawn. "I hope not to tired, I have something planned for you tonight" he winks with a mischievous chuckle.
"Noah!" I laugh playfully slapping his arm. "What?" he questions playing all innocent. "Oh my god" I tut before walking upstairs.
I reach for Misha's door and open it slightly before entering. "MOMMY!" he screams jumping into my arms. "You should be in bed mister" I cuddle playfully. "I was waiting for you to come home," he says. I wrap my arms around him, and I kiss him on the cheek, he tries to wiggle away thinking he is too old for kisses.
He will always be my baby.
"Can you tell me a story?" he questions, jumping out of my grasp and onto the bed. "Which one do you want?" I ask taking a seat next to him. "Tell the one about dada" he says excitedly. "Okay," I whisper pulling him onto my lap.
"Once upon a time, there was a strong, kind, and powerful king, his name was Carlos. He protected his people to the best of his ability. One day he met a young princess from another kingdom, they weren't supposed to fall in love, but they were soulmates."
"Do you think I have a soulmate?" Misha asks turning his face towards me. "I take his chin in my hand and squeeze his cheeks lightly, he giggles, and I say, "you will find the perfect person for you one day."
He smiles and I continue with the story, "The king Carlos and the princess were very happy and that made another king very jealous. He wanted to take everything from the king Carlos, so he stole away the princess." Misha lets in a gasp of shock even though he has heard this story many, many times.
"King Carlos became very sad, but he always kept searching for his love. Eventually he found the princess and there was a great battle. King Carlos won the battle, but the princess didn't want to live in the kingdom anymore. They decided it was best for her to leave and make a life for herself. The King Carlos thought about the princess every single day, but he knew he did what was best for her by letting her go."
"Do you think that Dada will ever find you?" he asks. "I don't think so sweety" I speak the small amount of disappointment slipping through my words.
Misha has never asked me about his father like that before; I've told him that his father was Carlos, and he was a good person, but I never tell him much more. I don't want him to get sucked into that world, not yet anyway.
"Does Dada want to find us?" he urges in a sweet voice. "I don't know sweetheart, but we don't need anyone else right now" I smile kissing him on the head.
I lift he off my lap and tuck him into bed, "goodnight mommy, I love you" he whispers. "I love you too" I whisper back heading out off the room and turning the light off.
