Carlos POV
A knock sounds at the door, "what" I grunt, angry at the disturbance. The door swings open and Gideon stands at the entrance, "you are going to want to see this" he pants, obviously from running here.
I moved offices to a different floor because whenever I am in my old one, I can only think about is Maia. And what we did in there.
He opens his laptop in front of me and opens an email from an unknown account. "I got this five minutes ago and thought it was best to show you in person" he says, waiting for it to load. It must be important because he was at the apartment which means he literally ran here.
"Fuck"
"I know right, it's her. She's still alive."
Maia. My mi amore.
I thought she was dead, around 4 months ago we received information that she was dead. Of course, I investigated it but there wasn't anything to prove it wrong or right.
I gave up on her and she's been trapped this entire time.
The image disgust me, Fausto is kissing my girl and she is forcing a smile on her beautiful face. And then there's the baby, her baby.
She is covered in even more scars, one obvious one across her right cheek. The matching tattoos on there wrists sending chills down my spine. That's what Tyrone did to her.
The pain in her eyes hurts me, I left her with this. I gave up on her.
"Oh my god" I mumble, wet hot tears forming in my eyes. I don't cry often but looking at this photo I don't feel angry, just guilt and pain. I stare at the image in silence for what feels like hours.
"Carlos" Gideon says, pulling me out of my trance. He waits a few seconds before saying, "there's a message with the picture." I click off the photo to the email.
Maia is happy with me and our perfect family. Be happy too Carlos. Your beloved friend Fausto.
"Fucking bastard, who does he think he is. He took my girl; he needs to pay" I seethe anger flooding my veins once more. "Where is Tyrone in all this?" Gideon asks, making a good point. We haven't heard anything from Tyrone, its all be Fausto, he didn't even show up that day.
"Maia shot him, right?" Gideon questions trying to make sense of the situation. "Yeah, she did." I pause for a moment thinking this all through, "God we are so stupid" I hiss.
"For months we thought Tyrone is in charge but it's Fausto. Fuck. FUCK!" I shout, my fists clenching at my sides. "We know now, we can try and find her again" Gideon proposes.
"We've looked everywhere already; we can't search the whole planet" I scoff. "I should've known. God, I should've known it was Fausto" I spit angrily clicking back on the photo wanting to see the motherfuckers face again.
"We couldn't have known Carlos don't blame..."
"Shut up" I say.
"Carlos?" he questions. "What's that?" I say pointing at the black wording along the edge of Maia dress. "Could be a tattoo" he suggests. "No, look it's a bit smudged at the edge, that's no tattoo" I reply, a feeling I can't comprehend stirring in my stomach.
"Zoom in," I tell him.
"Is that a location?" Gideon questions confusion filling his tone. "Search it up" I say not getting hopeful yet. "Here, look it's a road in north Italy in the middle of nowhere" Gideon says pulling up a map.
"Are there any buildings," I ask. "There was a building company there 3 years ago, they built a mansion. It won't be on google maps if it was that reactant" Gideon informs.
