In the afternoon, when her lecture was over, Jiya was strolling down the town admiring the landscape when piping hot coffee smell, caught her attention. She paused down her pace and followed the smell to enter a Starbucks shop. She scanned the room and there sat another girl of about her age, engrossed in her book while taking a sip of her drink. She searched for a place to sit and she chose the last table around the corner next to a window. A few minutes later, a young boy, with blonde hair and blue eyes, approached her and took her order.
Jiya sat back, feeling relieved that her assignment was finally over; it was a burden lifted off her shoulders. Then seconds later, Hussain came to her mind. She never felt the way she felt about Hussain for any guy, for many years, after Ashar. "He is such a nice and amusing boy. How can someone even be always on the bright side of life? He is so carefree and lives life as per his principles!" thought Jiya. Her thoughts were interrupted when the blonde-haired boy brought her coffee.
Jiya loved seeing kids play in the park outside the shop; they always reminded her of her childhood and her family. She was just about to take a sip of her coffee when she saw someone very familiar in the park as well. Her brown orbs widened and she burnt her tongue with the piping hot coffee. Jiya put the coffee back on the table and look back towards the park but this time there was no one.
She instantly rushed outside to have a closer view but it was only a few kids playing in the park. "No, my eyes can't be deceived! I'm sure it was him! It's not my illusion! What if—what if he really found me?" Jiya murmured under her breath.
Terrified, she immediately decided to rush home to avoid any trouble. While she was walking home, she had the feeling as if she was being followed, but every time she looked back, there was no one. That was probably her mind messing everything up.
As soon as she reached their apartment, Arzoo was already there, chilling on the couch. As the latter noticed Jiya's terrified look, she approached her and asked her what was wrong. "I'm going crazy Arzoo! I can't handle it anymore!" Jiya explained as she threw her bag on the floor and threw herself on the couch. "Now what's wrong?" Arzoo asked as she sat next to her. "I saw him! Trust me! I really saw him this time!" Jiya told her. Arzoo let out a sigh and replied, "Look Jiya, I know you've been through a tough time but you have to move on! He'll never be able to reach you again; he's in jail remember? You have to leave his bad memories behind; there's the whole life before you. He'll never be able to harm you again! Just get this fear out of your mind!". "But—" "No, and besides you have to get ready, we're going out tonight so let's not lose time!" Arzoo said and dragged her to their wardrobe by the hand. "I don't think I wanna go..." Jiya trailed down as she lowered her sight from Arzoo's. "Don't give me that look! You won't disappoint Hussain, will you?" Arzoo asked.Arzoo knew that Jiya wouldn't refuse if she mentionned Hussain. Jiya, on her side, was sure she had seen 'him' and she knew she would have to be very careful as from now.
At eight in the evening, the girls were ready; Jiya wore black leggings, a turquoise top and a leather jacket. Not to forget her medium boots and her hair tied up in a messy bun. It was cold outside and these accessories were obviously more necessary than anything else. Jiya always liked to be simple, but effective. She never liked to wear heavy makeup and all. For her, every girl is beautiful is her own way so there's no need to hide anything.
"I'm ready!" Jiya shouted as she entered their small living room. Arzoo gave her a strange look and seconds later laughed her heart out. "What? What's wrong?" Jiya asked, perplexed. "You're seriously gonna go like this in front of Hussain?" Arzoo asked still laughing. "Yeah, that's how I dress every day, I don't see anything wrong in these clothes!" Jiya defended. "Ok sweetheart it's not about the clothes it's about you! Come with me!" Arzoo dragged her to their bedroom again to 'enhance' Jiya's look, as per her.
After brushing the face-brush around Jiya's face a few times, Arzoo was now persuaded that Jiya was ready to meet Hussain. For her, it was like Hussain and Jiya going on a date. She let Jiya have a sight of herself in the mirror and Jiya was hesitant to agree that this 'makeup' and 'loose hair' look suited her. "Now you're ready and mark my words, Hussain won't be able to take his eyes off of you!" Arzoo said and nudge her. "Yeah sure..." Jiya rolled her eyes and still blushed deep inside. Suddenly her phone buzzed and it was a message from Hussain.
"Hey! We're at the Ice skating centre; come and join us there! We're waiting - Hussain"
What a cutie he was. Jiya and Arzoo both set out to meet Hussain and his mates. When they reached the Ice skating centre they felt like the whole Texas landed there. It was so crowded that if someone was lost in that crowd, you would hardly find them again. Jiya scanned the room searching for Hussain but in vain. Suddenly, she noticed some guys waving at her and Arzoo; she scanned them properly and noticed that it was Hussain. She beamed and waved back at him. The boys came over to join them and wow, she couldn't resist that style of Hussain. He looked so handsome in those, dark blue jeans and a light blue jeans top. He brushed his hands in his hair and they looked so fluffy. Hussain's girlfriend must be the luckiest girl in the world. Hussain introduced the girls to Shehry, Waqas and Atif and later on Arzoo, friendly as she was, proposed to have an ice skating challenge. Jiya couldn't skate so she preferred sitting, watching them have fun.
Hussain and the rest went to get their skates while Jiya sat on the bench where they kept all their things, watching people basically skate. She started feeling annoyed with her hair and managed to put it in a bun again. Minutes later, Hussain came and sat next to her, "Won't you skate?" he asked. "No, I can't in fact!" Jiya replied and let out a little giggle. "You see Shehry over there, he can't as well, but seems like he doesn't care even a little! Come on, don't be a cat, we'll have fun!" Hussain proposed as he got up, as well as Jiya. "No seriously, I don't wanna make a fool out of myself!" Jiya replied. "You sure?"
Jiya nodded and Hussain had got his answer. "There's one thing more actually". Hussain approached her and looked deep into her brown eyes. His sight sent thrills to her spine and her breathing fastened. "You look better in loose hair..." he said as he removed the elastic band from her hair. He gave her a light wink before joining the others, screaming like a mad person.
Jiya was left standing alone there, smiling like an idiot but the thought of his girlfriend brought her back to her senses. How could she think like that about Hussain? He had his girlfriend for god sake! Wait a second, what was happening? Was she falling in love, with Hussain?
