Hurtful memories (Varian story)

Water (part 8)

(Warnings: nearly drowning)

"WHAT ACTUAL THE HELL?!" Cassandra yelled, finally showing how angry she actually was. "Varian, why didn't tell us about this!?" Varian looked guilty and was about say something but Rapunzel then spoke up as well. "Yea. Why didn't you tell us sooner?" Eugene looked at Varian who was looking down at his feet with tears building in his eyes. He then looked back at the girls. "Leave Varian alone. He obviously doesn't want to talk about this and you two are upsetting him." Rapunzel seemed to be a little sad for Eugene going against her on this. Noticing this he sighed. "Blondie usually I'd agree with you on everything but this time I just  can't. There's obviously a reason why Varian doesn't want to talk to your dad or even us about this and just don't think we should be pushing this." Varian wiped his eyes. "It's fine. Let's just get to next memory."

The next memory then faded in. Varian hadn't been able to sleep as his back was in excruciating pain and the cell was already an extremely uncomfortable place to sleep. He then heard his cell door being opened again. He looked towards the door were the captain and Nigel were standing. "Get away from me!" Varian yelled and slid backwards until he hit his back against wall. Once it did Varian inhaled sharply from the sudden contact. The captain looked annoyed and grabbed the chain. He pulled Varian to his feet and yanked the chain forward causing Varian to stumble forward. Varian then pulled against the chain, not wanting to see what to see what these sadistic pieces of crap wanted to do to him next. The captain looked at Nigel who nodded then turned to Varian again. Varian backed up as the captain got closer. His back against hit wall again causing him to hiss in pain. Varian was then knocked out again.

Varian woke up to his hands cuffed behind his back. He looked around and saw a large bucket of water in the middle of the room. The captain and Nigel both walked into the room. The captain looked a little concerned. "The guards are under the kings order to just make sure no one comes in here and to disregard any noises they hear from this room. So it will be fine." Nigel then looked at Varian and smirked. He nudged the captain. "Look who's finally awake." The captain looked over to Varian and also smirked. "Well I guess we should get started." The captain walked over to Varian and tightly grabbed one of his arms. Varian tried to get away from the captain but it didn't work and the captain dragged him to the bucket of water. Then got him to kneel in front of it. Nigel stood on the other side of the bucket. "Well I'm sure what I going to ask you to do." Varian growled in response. "Never. I'm not going to apologise to a man who's ego is so fragile that he would torture a 14 year old who just said what's true. That he is and always will be a coward and liar." Nigel then nodded to the captain who without warning shoved Varian head to the bucket of freezing cold water. Varian inhaled quite a lot of water by accident when was dunked in. He tried to push his head back out of water but the captain had a hold of Varian's head keeping under the water. Varian tried desperately to get out of the water as heard laughing from the captain and Nigel. They found his struggle to breathe funny. With this realisation Varian stopped struggling and just held his breath the best he could. Nigel then told the captain to take Varian out the water as they couldn't really let drown. Varian pulled out water and made him remain kneeling. Varian was breathing heavily as cold water leaked down on to shoulders. He didn't want to look at the two men in the room. Nigel was talking but then realised that Varian wasn't listening. He cleared his throat and gestured to the boy. The captain pulled Varian's head up by his hair. "When we're talking to you, listen." Varian huffed at looked to men. "Now as I was saying-" Varian cut off Nigel. "I don't care what you were saying. You already know my answer to both of  your requests. So whatever you were going to threaten me with just do it." Nigel looked annoyed at the interruption and gestured to the captain to hold Varian's head under water again. The captain then obliged and held Varian under the water again. The memory sped through most of it but at the last time was dunked in the water. Varian was finally pulled out  of the water again. He was tired and out of breath as he had been here for hours. He wanted to go back to his cell already. Once he could finally breath properly again the captain shoved his head back into the water. This time however Varian passed out.

He woke up back a cell but not his normal cell. He still chained to the wall but ther someone else in the cell with him. The memory then faded out. Varian had nothing to say about this one memory if anything this one wasn't that bad compared with the next memories. Eugene seemed upset by this specifically as he had recently talked to the king about this very punishment and why it was problem.
