Strawberry Kisses

PART 40

Mina is confused as to why Seulgi sent her the Hospital's address. She felt something in her gut making her want to puke but decided to shrug it. Maybe they're just in the hospital because they're waiting for Irene. Atleast that's what she wants to think to keep away other thoughts.

"You're going home?" Sana asked.

"N-no." Mina said absentmindedly. "I don't know, Satang. I don't feel good. Can you drive me here?"

"Hospital?" Sana asked, looking at Mina's phone.

"Seulgi unnie said she's there with Chaeng. Can you come with me?"

"Ofcourse. I'll just get us coats." Sana said then went to her room.

The drive was silent. Mina tried to shake away her bad feeling as she looked outside the car window. When they arrived at the hospital, she didn't waste any time to get to the room Seulgi told her to go and Sana followed her.

Every step Mina take makes her heart pound harder on her chest. She looked at the rooms and sighed when she saw Seulgi sitting on the hallway bench.

"Seulgi-unnie." Mina called, making Seulgi looked up to her direction.

As soon as Mina had the chance to see Seulgi's face, it seems like time stopped for a moment. The fear she's been trying to supress, exploded in her body.

"Mina." Seulgi said weakly as she stands up to face the younger girl.

"W-why are we here?" Mina asked.

Seulgi started crying, her knees felt so weak that she have to go back to her seat.

"There's an accident.. She jumped in front of a bus to save a kid." The older girl explained in between stuttering and sniffing. "The doctor said they've controlled and stopped all the bleeding and we're waiting for her to wake up."

"Is this a prank?" Mina laughed sarcastically. "Come on, this is not a good joke."

Seulgi looked up to meet Mina's eyes. "I wish this is just a joke, Mina."

Mina shook her head slowly. "No. No. It can't be. We're just talking awhile ago, unnie. She said wait for her in the park."

Seulgi's heart breaks for Mina. It pains her to see Mina still struggling to accept what's going on.

"Come on, Chaeng this isn't funny." Mina said, opening the door. Hoping to see Chaeyoung laughing at her. Seulgi quickly stood up and tried to stop her, but failed.

Mina looked at the girl laying on the bed, and even though it's covered with bruises, even though her mind tried to think otherwise, her heart knows, her heart feels that the girl in front of her is Chaeyoung.

"No. That's- this is not true." Mina said, shaking her head aggressively. She then felt Sana trying to calm her down. "Sana, that can't be, we're just t-talking awhile ago. Chaeng, come on, get up."

Sana squeezed her cousin and tried to help her steady Mina's breathing. Not after a second, Mina collapsed on Sana's body, making them both end up on the floor while Mina's tears keep streaming from her eyes.

"Chaeng please wake up! " Mina cried, holding on to the bed frame.

Seulgi's eyes landed on her wife who's just staring at what's happening. Irene is not moving, she barely blinks but the tears from her eyes is not stopping.

She just watched as the girls inside the room cry their hearts out. She felt useless, just standing there but what else can she do?

"Mitang, come on. Help yourself up." Sana said after Mina somehow calmed down. "Seulgi unnie said we'll wait til Chaeyoung wake up. We need to wait. And we will."
