"Mom, dad, how many times do I have to say those keys are for emergencies only?"
"It is an emergency!" Ma shouted. "You all are planning a wedding without us, and I just feel like it isn't fair! Besides I told Diana we were coming up here for the convention with Pastor and First Lady Stephens."
"I honestly forgot about that." I rubbed my temples.
"I tried to get her to calm down kids, I really did." Dad shook his head. "You know how sentimental she is."
"And Diana doesn't like to call as often anymore, we gotta make an appointment to see our own kids! And have y'all been putting on weight?" She grabbed my cheeks and turned my head from side to side.
"Lorianne, stop." Dad grabbed her and pulled her off to the side.
"It's nice to see you guys too." I smiled awkwardly.
"Well, I have a dress fitting for this Thursday if you would like to come, Mrs. Jones-"
"Now Andra, I told you to call me mama from this point on, you're family." She hugged her, starting to sniffle.
"Ma, I just know you're not crying." I rolled my eyes.
"What? I can't get emotional that my only son is finally getting married? I finally have a shot at grandkids!" She laughed with joy.
Derek clapped his hands and rubbed them together, "Aha! Boy you're gonna love this, so actually-"
I punched his arm, cutting him off. Then a weird silence grew around the room.
"Diana, Derek, is there something going on that we should be worried about?"
"N-no ma-" I stuttered.
"It better not be, because if there is I'd like to know now. You didn't get a vasectomy did you Derek?"
"Ma?! What? No!" He turned his face up.
My dad shook his head, "Jesus Christ Lorianne."
"Oh I wouldn't allow that." Andra said under her breath, causing me to laugh.
"Mhm, I'm on to yall," she kept her eyes on me. "Anyway, your father and I are hosting a dinner party at our Airbnb with some of the church folks, and we would love it if your significant others and their families can come out."
"I'll ask my mother and father if they would want to attend." Andra spoke up.
"And I'll ask Tyrell." I followed.
"Oh yes! I would love to meet Tyrell and his...daughter." Ma said, skeptical.
Derek tried to hold in his laugher, but it evidently getting the best of him and he began laughing uncontrollably.
Andra shot him a deadly glare. "My apologies everyone, he's exhausted from all of this planning, why don't we all get some shut eye?" Andra suggested.
"Yes! I need to go back home anyway, I have work in the morning." I grabbed my purse and started heading to the door.
"Di! We'll trail you, Our Airbnb is only 10 minutes away from your apartment anyway!" Dad shouted as I was halfway to the car.
"Cool with me!" I shouted back, getting into my car, putting my seatbelt on, putting my key into the ignition, and put it in gear to pull off.
"Incoming call from Baby Daddy, heart eyes heart eyes." The Bluetooth in my car went off. I tapped the screen to answer.
"Yes Tyrell?"
"Where you at?" He asked in his deep, sleepy voice.
"I'm leaving my brother and sister's house, I'll be home in 20 minutes."
