Theo's PoV
"Hey, wake up," she says as she violently shakes me. "What? What's happening? Is she okay?" I ask. "Is who okay?" I stare at Audrey and quickly adjust to what is known as reality. "Sorry, I'm thinking I'm back home," I say as I sit up. "What? No, this is your home now. Come on, we gotta go to school. You'll be with me for most of the day." She was already dressed and all. I dress myself and put some perfume on and brush my hair, using an old school bag of Audrey's. It had all I needed. A few books, things to write with and something to eat and drink while I'm there. I throw on a pair of blue jeans and a purple checked wooly shirt over my black t-shirt. I wore some shoes that were flat bottomed and checked black and white. She calls them Vans shoes.
We head downstairs and I see her mother still home even though she should be at work. "Hey, mom. You gonna talk to Miss McGregor today?" Audrey asked. "Of course, sweetie. Let me know when she's free, okay? Enjoy your day, ladies." Her mother hugged us both but I was still a little uneasy with intimacy with the humans. After a 10 minute drive we park with other vehicles at the building where she learns. I can't help but feel very nervous. Uncomfortable, even. "Hey, Theo. I know you're Hella nervous right now. That's okay but know that not everyone will like you. Ignore anyone who tries bringing you down or makes you feel completely alienated."
Her advice is wise so I nod and leave the car with her. "Hey, Jess!" She exclaimed as she earned a long hug from a blonde girl who had the same fashion as I had. She looked cute and I can already tell she was interested in Audrey by the sudden hug. "This is, Theo. The girl we saw from that ship a few weeks ago." Jess stared at me, now a little frightened but with a smile. "Wow," she says quietly, "a tail and everything. Purple pink skin? Hair? She's basically a mutant from X Men or something." "Yeah. Principal douche bag wants to do an assembly for our year to introduce her."
Wait, an assembly? No, I can't do that. I'll die from a heart attack. "You think he'll have a film crew in?" Jess asks. "Probably, yeah. Let's head inside. She'll need to get used to other humans," Audrey laughed as she walked on. I follow like a trained animal only because I fear getting lost. I could already feel eyes landing heavy on me so I naturally lower my head and hug myself, keeping my tail wrapped around me. I almost faint when entering the building and seeing a flood of other students in the hallways. "Audrey, you sure this is a good idea?" I ask.
"You wanted to be more open and confident, right? Look, it's not so bad. More people here will accept you unlike those from your home world. I promise." I nodded hesitantly and stick by her side as we stop at some lockers. "Hey, I'm gonna return a book. Meet you in class, audie." Jess then leaves and I smile to Audrey who was a little red on it, I assume she was blushing. "Audie? That's a cute nickname. When were you gonna tell me?" I ask. She gives a timid smile and opens her locker. "Come on, we're just friends. There's nothing going on between us." "I didn't say anything about you two dating."
She froze up a little, as if trying to process it with a confused gaze to her locker. "Huh," she says. She steps aside and allows me to put some things into her locker temporarily. "I can't fucking believe you," a girl says to Audrey on my right. "What?" She questioned. "You help me home after I was jumped and now you're taking my best friend away from me? Is this a sick joke to you?" I lower my head and pretend I'm doing something in the locker hoping to avoid the girl's aggression. "Firstly, I helped because Sasha would've murdered you if I didn't. Secondly, I'm not taking anyone's friend away from them. Quit being a drama starting bitch, Taylor, and move on." I don't think I've heard Audrey become so frustrated and angered this quickly due to someone talking.
"Is this another girl you stole from someone? Huh?" The girl, now named Taylor, shoves Audrey to the side and turns me where I stand. "Look at me, bi-" she immediately stepped back and stared intensely into my eyes as she was quickly silenced by what she saw. A four armed alien with pink skin and a tail. Covered in large purple spots and a few scratches from the past. Her eyes scanned my body shortly after as her cheeks reddened. Our eyes lock again and I couldn't help but give a timid wave. Staring at her makes my heart pump hard. I feel weak to her gaze or maybe her presence. Without saying anything, she walks away with her head low.
