amortentia

"Attention, class!" Professor slughorn called and smiled at the students stood infront of him.
"Good- today we will be making one really special potion, I want you to look at the kettles infront of you and please tell me what's inside."

Lily raised her hand, slughorn gladly accepted and asked her to step forward and take a look.

She bend over the desk and started to inspect the liquids.
"This one here is veritaserum, it's a truth potion, makes it impossible to lie, works in small amounts."
She looked at the next one.
"This is polyjuice potion, turns yourself into any wished other person by adding a hair, smells terrible." She said, scrunched up face.

"Tastes terrible too, like goblin piss." Sirius snickered silently, making James laugh and remus giggle.

"Uhm-" Lily continued to look at the last kettle, sniffing the air.
"This must be amortentia... it's the strongest love potion to exist, even if it doesn't create real love, just a strong obsession-based feeling, it smells like the person you love most."

"Perfect, Evans, 15 points to gryffindor. Today you will be trying to make amortentia, class. I want you to get yourself a partner to work with and start right away."

Remus felt a light tap at his shoulder and turned to look at Sirius who was already smiling at him.
"Wanna be partners?" He asked grinning and remus nodded, feeling a tingle at the wording.

"Okay so how do we do this?" Sirius asked, inspecting the ingredients.
"Well first of all, we need a book, can you get one for us?"
"Sure thing."

After Sirius returns and they open the book on the right page, they start to work on the potion together.

It almost takes the whole double- period but in the end, remus is pleasantly surprised how well it came out.
Sirius went to get professor slughorn and remus took a sniff at the potion.
Immediately the smell of peppermint, dog furr and leather filled his nostrils and his head shot up, looking around for Sirius.

His eyes grew wide when he realized that he wasn't back and took another deep breath through his nose.
It was overwhelming how much the potion smelled like his best friend.

"Ah well done gentlemen." Slughorn praised as he looked inside the kettle.
Remus was still a bit confused but tried a smile.

"Would you mind if I took this as an example at the end of class?" He asked and both boys shook their heads.

"What's wrong remus?" Sirius asked, nudging his shoulder.
Remus looked up at him and felt his heart clench at the sight.
He was just so beautiful.
"Nothing, I'm fine." He muttered and Sirius wanted to argue but before he could, professor slughorn called out their names and asked them to step forward.

"Attention! These two here finished their task a bit earlier than the rest of you so I asked them to present their work. You did a good job, would you two be fine with telling us what you smell?"

Remus thought he died right then and there. This couldn't be happening.
Sirius just shrugged and made a step forward, smelling, seemingly concentrated.
He furrowed his brows and remus was terrified about hearing what it was.
"I smell.. books, chamomile tea? And... chocolate- caramel chocolate." He said, blushing a bit, not meeting remus' eyes.

"Mister lupin?"

Remus' face started to heat up and his heart picked up its rate.
"Uhm s-sure." He said and stepped forward, pretending to do this the first time.

"Uhm..." he looked through the room and found lily's eyes, sending a helpless look. "I smell peppermint.. gum, leather and..." He coughed "Furr." He mumbled.
"Excuse me?" Professor slughorn said.
Remus swallowed hard.
"Dog furr." He repeated, louder this time.

"Interesting." Slughorn muttered, looking at the two boys and clapped his hands together once, ending class.

Remus rushed to their desk and grabbed his bag, not looking at any of his friends before leaving.

He was never this happy to have a free period like right now.

He's been hiding in the library since the school day ended, reading the same page over and over for distraction, but able to concentrate.
Avoiding Sirius wasn't that hard, after potions they didn't have any lessons together.

Avoiding Lily was a whole other story.
She knew about his crush on Sirius and tried to comfort him.
Remus didn't want to be comforted.

He scribbled down on some parchment paper but nothing smart was coming out of his brain at the moment.
He cursed himself for not lying, he could've just said something different, something more vague.
His friends must know what that meant.
They were slow... but not that slow.

He slammed his head down on the table and let out a long, annoyed groan.

"Careful with that smart head of yours." He heard someone say and recognized it immediately.
"Wha'dyouwant?" He mumbled and looked up at James.

"Talk." He simply said and sat down infornt of remus.

"About?"

"Don't play dumb, you know what about."

"So talk." Remus said, sighing.
"You need to go find Sirius and talk to him, you can't avoid him forever."
"I haven't been avoiding him."
"Yes you have, now listen. He likes you too, remus. I'm his brother, trust me, I know." He said after seeing remus' unconvinced face. "But he never told you because- you know how he is. This is a big thing for the both of you, something great could come out of this." 

"I don't know, James..."

"You're even more oblivious than I thought." James said and remus shot him a offended look.
"Excuse me?"

"Tell me, what do you like to do most?"
"Read."
"What's your favorite type of tea?"
"Chamomile."
"And what kind of chocolate do you like most?"
"Caramel chocolate."
"Right, and now tell me, what did Sirius smell in the bloody amortentia?"

Remus eyes grew wide when he realized and looked at James for a split second before getting up and storming out of the library, leaving his stuff for James to take.

His heart was pounding hard in his chest when he made his way up the stairs to the common room.
He went inside and looked around for Sirius.
The room was pretty full, most of the students playing games, talking, eating.
He spotted Sirius talking to lily in a private corner, standing next to one of the arm chairs.
He grew nervous, thinking about what they could be talking about.

He decided to just stop worrying and went over to both of his friends.
Lily saw him first, moving out of the way.
Sirius turned to look at remus and started to blush.

He opened his mouth to say something but remus just grabbed him by his collar, pulled him closer and leaned down to kiss him.
Sirius made a surprised noise at the back of his throat, not expecting this to happen and remus just smiled into the kiss.

Sirius started to relax and wrapped his arms around remus' waist.
They started to move their lips when remus' hands found their way to Sirius' neck and into his hair.

Around them, people started to wolf whistle at them and remus heard a faint "finally" coming from behind him.

They broke apart and saw lily, James and Peter standing next to them, wide grins and thumbs up on display.

Remus felt a Hand wrapping around his own, intertwining their fingers.
He smiled and turned to look at Sirius who was already looking at him.
