the bet

Sirius didn't know how he ended up in this conversation, but after remus walked past him and his two best friends, smiling, James thought it would be a good idea to make a game out of it.

"I don't know guys..." Sirius said unsure, biting his nails.

"It's such an easy deal, he totally fancies you. Just go up there and flirt with him." Peter said.
Sirius rolled his eyes.
"It's not that I'm scared or anything, I just don't want to." He huffed.

"Okay let's bet, I say you're going to make him kiss you at the end of the week." Peter challenged

"I bet you won't be able to make him kiss you." James laughed and looked at Sirius.

"How much?" Peter grinned.
"50, and a bottle of tequila."
"I bet 30 and a week of doing Sirius' homework. What do you say?"

"I don't- ..." Sirius said, looking at the tall boy across the hall from where he was standing.

"Come on Sirius, just a kiss, ask him on a date if it makes you feel better, I don't know." James laughed.
"Okay." Sirius shrugged and closed his locker. "Okay I'll do it."

Peter and James cheered and Sirius just grinned, swallowing the lump in his throat.

After first period, Sirius was the first to rush out of the classroom.
Normally he would directly go find his friends but this time he waited infront of the door for Remus.
When he came walking out, books clutched under his arms, Sirius took a deep breath to calm down.
He reminded himself that he needed to be confident and had no reason not to be.

He made his way over to the taller boy and forced himself to look smug.
"Hey remus."

The boy turned around quickly and smiled sweetly.
Sirius thought he'd faint any second.
"Hi." He responded and adjusted his schoolbag.

"I was wondering if you wanted to hang out tomorrow." Sirius said confidently, fixing his curls.
"Uhm- sure, I guess." Remus shrugged, a smile still on his lips.

"Cool." Sirius grinned "How about we exchange numbers, yeah?"
"Oh, yeah of course wait." Remus mumbled, searching through his pockets. "I can't remember my phone number, so..."
Sirius laughed at that. "Don't worry."

Remus told him his number and Sirius saved it in his phone, promising to text him later.

"Great, I'll meet you tomorrow after school then." Sirius winked and made his way to the next lesson.

The rest of the day went by slowly.
First thing he did when he got home was to text remus.
They had an easy conversation, made some small talk and eventually said good night.
Sirius went to bed with a smile on his face.

The next day, after school ended, Sirius waited for Remus infront of his motorcycle, leaning against it and taking a drag from his cigarette.

Peter and James walked past him, sending a thumbs up and large grins in his direction, making Sirius uncomfortable.
He told them about his plans and they were very pleased about the progress he was already making.

He only had to wait another five minutes before he saw remus walking out of the school building.
He let out a loud whistle to catch his attention and when remus spotted him, he made his way over.
He smiled timidly, waving.

"Hey." Sirius grinned "Ready?"
"Yeah, ready- uhm were not taking the motorcycle, are we?" Remus asked, wide eyed.
"Do you not want to? I have a spare helmet."
"I... okay but be careful, yes?"
"Of course love." Sirius responded, handing him the helmet.
Remus put it on and Sirius thought that he's never seen someone looking this cute.
