"good morning, eunha" sooyoung greeted the girl as she sat down next to her and smiled at her
"good morning, soo. it's your birthday tomorrow, right?"
the black haired girl rolled her eyes but the smile on her face told eunha that it was a playful eye roll and said, "gee, thanks for not forgetting"

"i won't have to wear a ballgown or something, right?" eunha joked
"what? why would you even think that?"
"its a rich people party- cmon your dad owns so many buildings and businesses"

sooyoung chuckled, "i mean, i don't really know if people are gonna show up in ballgowns, but you're more than welcome to do so"

that made eunha a little bit anxious. what if people actually did show up in ballgowns, but she doesn't and shows up in a t-shirt? what if people wear casual attire and she's in a poofy dress- not that she owns any.

"by the way, im telling you this because i think you deserve to know." the girl said, gaining eunhas attention, "this morning when i was walking to class i saw renjun's girlfriend talking to her friend- and i know i shouldn't assume things! but its just that i over-heard their conversation and she said she felt bad for renjun and would break up with him soon. can i ask you what that's about?"

eunha sighed and nodded, "I'm telling you this because you're a casual acquaintance who is really trustworthy, okay?"
sooyoung nodded
"okay so the other day me, chenle and jisung were out for ice-cream and minsu was there too but she didn't see us and we kinda eavesdropped on her and her friend and we found out renjun is a dare to her"

sooyoung gasped and put a hand on eunha's shoulder, "but- what- wait- isn't this like, good for you?"
confused, eunha frowned, "excuse me?"
"like, they'll break up and you'll have a chance with renjun!"
"what- who told you i- what?!"

the black haired girl smirked playfully, "the whole campus knows, eun"
"what the fuck.. was i that obvious?"
"yes! gosh, I'm surprised how renjun didn't notice. he's a real idiot"

all classes had ended and almost everyone had gone home. out of the students who stayed at the college to study, one was huang renjun. but he wasn't staying to study. he had other plans.

with a big grin on his face, the boy walked to the school's football ground where he was told to meet his girlfriend. he spotted the girl sitting alone in the bleachers and he called out to her, waving his hand in the air for her to notice and wave back.

he walked to her and sat down next to her, "what's up, min?"

the girl, however, wasn't all excited to say what was on her mind. how could she say it without hurting him? how could she do it when all the boy had was the pure intention of loving her? she felt disgusted by herself. but she had to be honest with him. it was the right thing to do.

"renjun"
"yes?"
"i.. im gonna be completely honest with you and just know that i never wanted to do this and... i-i don't.. i don't know.."
"minsu, you're scaring me"

"renjun, i was dared. a month ago. i was dared to accept the next confession i got and.. it happened to be you.."

his heart broke. he lost control of his body, his mind, himself. he didn't remember how to think. still, he croaked out a wry chuckle and shook his head in denial
"no, no. you're just joking, this is a prank! haha, you're- you're joking" he said through his tears which he didn't even notice coming out

"i.. im sorry, renjun.. i couldn't lie to you anymore. i know you really like me and I'm sorry i couldn't return the feeling.. it doesn't sit right with me that you're doing your best for me and i don't even return your feelings a bit- i-... i can't do it anymore, I'm breaking up with you"

he stayed silent.

"I'm sorry, renjun.. you didn't deserve this" minsu said and with her head hung low, she walked away, leaving the heartbroken boy alone in the vast field

he finally broke down.

disappointed, hurt, played.
how was he so blind? there were so many warning signs. how could he be so foolish to keep on chasing the girl who hadn't even showed an ounce of interest.

that one week of pure bliss turned out to be the most miserable one for huang renjun as he constantly put the blame on himself for everything.

it was when the sun began to set, he stood up and decided he was going to clear his head and think rationally.
