“Can you just stop!” An angry Dabin screamed as the atmosphere quickly quieted down.

Assess the scene; A crowd of students stood clustered against each other. They were surrounding three students. Dabin, Chaerim and Mirae to be specific. Dabin stood towering over the two girls, one on the floor, huddling herself in pain while the other, glaring at her, holding on to her slightly reddish cheek.

Chaerim had bullied the girl once again, maybe even gone too far. The victim looked like she had been beaten up and was clearly sobbing as the crowd stared at her frail figure.

Dabin was walking through the halls when she heard whimpers and immediately ran up to them. They caused so much of a ruckus; a crowd had formed unknowingly.

And there they were, standing face to face, having a very heated argument.

“Just because your leader is gone doesn’t mean you should carry on in her legacy!” The taller continued, visibly red from anger, “You could’ve changed! You can change!”

“You can’t tell me how to live my life!” Chaerim retaliated, “It’s not my fault this raggedy piece of shit here is a bitc-”

Before she could finish, she earned a slap, firm on her other cheek.

“Shut it!” Dabin raised her voice, “You have no right to speak down on others, especially when you’re already a lowlife!”

The crowd grumbled and shouted when they witnessed Chaerim punch Dabin right in the face.

Blood splattered on the tile floors of the hall as Dabin’s nose bled.

Chaerim screamed as she kicked the girl’s shin, causing her to fall to the ground, where the other victim of her bullying laid quietly, wallowing away in her own pain.

It was for sure Chaerim was stronger than Bogum, but that didn’t stop Dabin.

Chaerim brought up her leg once more to kick the girl but she grabbed her leg right in midair, resulting in the both of them colliding on the ground.

“Hey! What’s going on over there!” Shouted a teacher, who watched Chaerim try to kick the girl. The crowd of students dispersed once the voice of the teacher was heard, leaving only the three girls, two of which were visibly injured.

“Miss Park, to the Dean’s office” The teacher announced as Chaerim looked around in panic, “Now!”

“Ahh!” Hyerin screamed as her books dropped to the ground, “Dabin! What’s wrong?!”

She ran up to them, seeing two of them on the floor and the teacher and student standing above them.

“Mr. Qwon what happened?” The worried girl asked, crouching down to Dabin and Mirae’s level.

“It will be taken care of, for now, take these two to the infirmary” The teacher stated as Hyerin nodded her head vigorously.

The man then left with Chaerim, leading her to the Dean’s office as Hyerin tended to the two girls.

“Oh no- Dabin are you okay?” Hyerin asked, worry written all over her face seeing the red goo drip from her nostril.

Mirae looked like she took quite a lot of damage too so she hurriedly got them up on their feet and they made their way to the school nurse.

“Ow, careful” Dabin hissed, as Hyerin placed an ice pack on her head not so gently.

Hyerin pursed her lips as the injured collected the pack and massaged it herself. “Sorry”

They got to the infirmary and the nurse was attending to Mirae. She was bleeding in some places but it wasn’t anything major.

Dabin didn’t get that hurt either, just a little rest and she would be fine.

It was already half the school day and they still had classes left.

“She’ll be fine” The nurse stated as she advanced closer to the two, referring to Mirae, who laid asleep on one of the beds in the room.

They both nodded as she left the space.

“Ugh that Chaerim!” Dabin grunted, “Why can’t she just stop all this nonsense”

Hyerin sighed. “Ever since Bogum died, she’s become even worse”

“But Dabin,” Hyerin spoke up, “I told you to stop fighting, look at how hurt you got”

“Rin, I’m fine,” The girl breathed, “Don’t worry, next time I’ll show that brat not to mess with-”

“No, there will be no next time,” Hyerin shook her head, stopping her from continuing, “Just don’t get tangled up in the mess anymore, you could seriously get even more hurt”

Hyerin stood up and got a bottle of water for her best friend as the girl touched her head and immediately recoiled due to a stingy sensation.

“Come on, let’s leave” Dabin suggested, standing up from where she sat.

Hyerin quickly glanced over at Mirae, almost forgetting she was in the room with them considering how quiet she was.

She noticed the girl’s eyes were flickering open as she gently moved on the bed.

“Oh, she’s awake” Hyerin blurted, making her way to the girl.

Mirae sat up straight on the bed, glancing around the room. She ruffled her hair and sighed.

“Ah,” Hyerin cleared her throat, “The nurse said you should rest up in order to not worsen your state”

She just looked at the girl that spoke and nodded her head. “Thank you”

She was a very quiet girl, shy at most and she didn’t speak much. She didn’t have many friends either but it wasn’t like she was incapable of making friends or speaking up, it was more like she didn’t want to.

“Are you guys leaving?” Mirae asked, “Um, I feel fine, I can leave now too”

She began to get up from the bed when she grabbed her back, hissing from the sharp pain that jolted through her skin.

Dabin rolled her eyes, her body language showing she was annoyed. “Just stay here and rest”

“You wouldn’t be like this if you just had the courage and fought back” Dabin mindlessly continued, “This time not only you got hurt but I did too”

Mirae bent her head down in guilt and Hyerin nudged the nettled girl.

“I didn’t do that to help you, I did it because I don’t like that good for nothing rug rat and just because I did it doesn’t mean we’re friends, think of it as a debt,” Dabin fired, “Come on Hyerin”

And Dabin dragged her friend out of the room, leaving the other as she sat idle on the bed.

Hyerin flashed her an apologetic smile before she shut the doors to the office. She looked in front of her to see that Dabin had already gone quite the distance.

She understood why she got agitated but maybe that wasn’t the right time to say something like that.

She sighed and caught up with the girl as they made their way to the school cafeteria.
