“Alright,” Riki quickly rose from his seat, “You say you two are best friends, right?”
“Yeah…?” Hyerin answered, skeptical of the sudden question.
The boy began to pace from side to side as Hyerin got even more confused.
“So, you spend most of your time together, correct?” He asked once again.
“Right…” Hyerin went along.
She could see a smirk paint across his face when he suddenly asked another question. “Were you two together the day before Ah-Young died?”
“No, she had somewhere to be” Hyerin responded.
He asked her yet another question. “What about yesterday?”
“N-No, she had to leav-” Hyerin replied, “Where exactly are you going with this?”
“Also, didn’t she have a fight with Bogum the day before she died?” Riki mentioned as Hyerin sat quiet, at a loss for words.
“That’s not proof, she could have been anywhere el-” Hyerin started.
“Then what would be proof?” Riki cut her off, one eyebrow raised.
Hyerin rolled her eyes. “I’ve known her since I was five, yes, she’s violent but she wouldn’t go to that extent”
“All I’m saying is she’s still a suspect” The boy insisted as she got up from her own seat.
Light yellow and orange illumination cascaded through the nearest window, indicating that the sun was setting.
“I’ll prove to you that it isn’t her” Hyerin scowled and left, having packed up her things.
Honestly, the thought of Dabin actually being the killer made her dizzy, but she knew it was unlike her and she wasn’t going to suspect her long-time best friend.
How exactly was she going to prove that Dabin wasn’t the killer to the witty boy? She had no idea and she thought about it all night long.
The points he brought to the table kind of made sense but Hyerin just couldn’t bring herself to believe it.
After all, she knew her best friend more than anyone else.
A new day came and it was quieter than ever on campus.
‘Why haven’t they still said anything?!’ Hyerin thought, referring to how the school authorities had been even quieter.
Classes zoomed by that day, fortunately for the students.
Hyerin had finally put together a master plan to clear her closest friend’s name and that was when the bell sounded out.
It was a break period where students usually ate their lunches or did whatever they would usually do.
Hyerin was going to meet up with Dabin in the cafeteria, of course, and that was the time she would use to convince Riki.
As if on cue, she spotted the boy at the end of the class, ready to walk out the door.
She quickly put her things together and hurried up to him.
“You’re coming with me” The girl immediately yanked his hand, causing him to make a sharp turn in her direction.
“What the-” Riki exclaimed as he followed the girl who harshly dragged him, “I thought we agreed to only meet after school”
“We did but I’m going to prove to you that I’m right” She stated, still leading him to the cafeteria.
