Hyerin watched Dabin with a revolted look on her face as the girl stuffed her face with the food they had ordered shortly before.
“Calm down, the food isn’t going anywhere” Hyerin tsked, taking a bite of her own.
“I know, I know,” Dabin rolled her eyes, “It seems like the only good thing about this place is the food”
Hyerin chuckled at her statement and they continued to eat peacefully for the remaining time they had.
“How about we go somewhere after classes” Dabin broke the calm silence, “We could go to-”
“Oh, I have somewhere to be,” The other spoke out, frowning at the fact she couldn’t go, “We could go somewhere next time”
Of course, Hyerin couldn’t forget about the case. It hurt her to not be able to go out with her best friend but getting closer to finding out who killed those students was more important.
“Ahh, it’s okay, next time then,” Dabin smiled, “But where are you going?”
“Oh, I’m just going to check the surveillance cameras for any clues, you can come too if you want” She explicated, Dabin still slurping her delicious noodles.
“Hmm?” The girl questioned, mouth filled with food, “Clues? Clues on what?”
Hyerin pursed her lips and heaved out a sigh. “The deaths”
Dabin set her chopsticks on the table and grabbed a tissue to wipe her stained lips. “Rin, I told you to drop it”
“But I can do it! What if someone else gets killed?” She argued, setting her own utensils down.
“It’s too dangerous!” Dabin spieled, genuinely concerned for the girl.
Hyerin scoffed. “Says someone who just got into a fight and got hurt”
“You can’t compare the two, Hyerin!” Dabin stormed, “You’re dealing with a murderer here!”
“I know we can find whoever it is” Hyerin retorted.
“We?” Dabin inquired, crossing her arms and leaning back in her chair.
The other girl sighed, cleaning her lower face with a paper towel.
“I hope you know I’m against the idea of you investigating this, let alone helping you” Dabin alleged, making Hyerin roll her eyes.
“Oh, I know,” Hyerin jawed, annoyed at what had just escaped her mouth, “I think you’ve made it clear enough”
Peeved, her eyes rolled once more as she got up from her seat. Thankfully, right at that moment, it was time for the next class.
They didn’t have any other classes together for the rest of the day so they didn’t see each other after the fight.
Hyerin was annoyed, aggravated at the least. She couldn’t believe what her own best friend had said.
“That will be all for today” The teacher announced as the last class was finally over.
She shrugged off the argument they had and let her mind fully focus on the thing she had to do.
All throughout the class, Hyerin couldn’t help but wonder why the school hadn’t talked about the situation.
Of course, Bogum’s mother stormed into the school one day and caused commotion, just like her daughter would, but that was about it.
That was all that was heard about it. Ah-young’s family basically kept it low, unlike Bogum’s.
She thought it was weird how neither the school nor the police thought of it as a serious case but more of a mere coincidence.
It wasn’t certain that a new death would occur but it was most definitely a possibility.
The girl quickly packed up her stationary and arranged her bag.
First of all, she had to find her partner.
Luckily for her, as she was about to get up, she spotted him at the door of the classroom. They had the same class although she didn’t notice.
She immediately walked up to him and called out his name, causing him to turn his head in her direction.
He let out a sigh and turned back to the door. “Let’s go”
“Really?” Hyerin questioned, “No hi or hello?”
Rolling his eyes at her statement, they both left the classroom and made their way to the tech room.
Unlike any other school or university, the surveillance system wasn’t located in the higher ups’ office, rather, in a separate room.
They quickly found out where it was and walked over to the room.
The walk was rather… silent. Considering that they had a feud going on before teaming up, they were kind of awkward.
“Hyerin?” A voice called out, making the named turn in its direction.
It was Dabin.
“I’ve been looking for yo-” The girl spoke, before noticing the other person standing beside her, “Is that… Riki?”
Riki just looked at her confusedly as he didn’t really know what was going on, talk less of the argument that happened between them.
“What are you two doing together?” She tsked, “I thought you didn’t like each other”
Hyerin scoffed. The fact that she brought up normal conversation after what happened irritated her.
“What do you want?” Hyerin inquired, just wanting to get over whatever it was.
“What do you mean ‘what do I want’,” Dabin slightly chuckled, “Can’t I look for my best friend anymore?”
“If there isn’t anything, can we go now,” Hyerin sighed, “I’m kind of busy”
“What?” Dabin laughed, “You? Busy?”
It was clear Dabin didn’t notice she was upset.
“Come on” Dabin grabbed the girl’s hand, only to be shaken off.
Hyerin’s face showed quite a mix of expressions but she was most of all aggravated.
“Wait…” A frown quickly forming on Dabin’s face, “Don’t tell me-”
Hyerin’s visage didn’t falter as she crossed her arms and stood in front of the girl. If Riki wasn’t confused before, he was most definitely at that moment.
“Hyerin, I told you-” Dabin started, her mood changing completely.
“Just save it, I don’t want to hear it again,” Hyerin alluded, “Let’s go”
Then, they both walked off in the other direction, leaving Dabin to stand there and call out the girl’s name.
Hyerin deeply exhaled as they walked, running her hands through her hair.
Bemused, Riki didn’t know what to do.
“I…” The boy spoke up, making her glance his way.
She let out a soft chuckle. “Oh that, forget about it, don’t worry”
“I wasn’t worrying” He mumbled loud enough for her to hear, causing her to roll her eyes.
“Let’s just find out what caused it and get on with our lives” Hyerin sighed, both of them continuing to walk to the room that will reveal the truth.
