A sigh escaped Hyerin's lips as she gathered the things on her desk, preparing to leave as it was the end of another long school day.

It was then the middle of the working week and they were back to square one. No clues at all.

What was worse was that Hyerin and Dabin still hadn't made up.

Of course, Hyerin felt bad. She knew all that Dabin wanted was to ensure her safety but the girl was as petty as they could get.

Hyerin sighed again as she brought out her phone. She decided to be the bigger person and apologize.

One thing... she wasn't good at it.

She walked out of the classroom, fiddling with her phone as she had no clue on what to text her best friend.

As if God was listening to her inner screams, she bumped into someone.

"Dabin..." The girl let out on seeing her again.

And then there was silence. The two girls stayed quite as if they were strangers, not knowing what to say.

"Look,"

"Hyerin," They both voiced out simultaneously, causing slight chuckles from the two.

"You go first" Hyerin worded, allowing the girl to speak.

"Hyerin, I don't like this," She frowned, "Can we just go back to how we were"

"I'm sorry that things had to turn out this way but I just want you to be safe," She continued, "I am your best friend after all and I can't afford to lose you"

"I'll try my best to accept the fact that you are literally throwing yourself into danger even though I'm still kind of against it" Dabin sighed.

Hyerin felt incredibly bad at that moment. "I'm sorry too, you said exactly what I wanted to say"

With a touched pout on Dabin's face, she pulled Hyerin into her warm embrace.

"You're such a big baby" Hyerin laughed as she hugged her best friend back.

"Look who's talking" Dabin chuckled.

"Let's hangout today! I'll tell Riki-" Hyerin happily exclaimed, only to be cut off by Dabin.

"I actually have somewhere to be right now," Dabin explained, "We can most definitely hang out tomorrow"

"I really have to get going now" And with that the girl went off, leaving a pat on Hyerin's head.

'Hmm, I wonder when she got so busy' Hyerin shook her head, thinking to herself as she walked over to the library.

"Anything yet?" Hyerin questioned the boy as she dropped her bag on her seat opposite him, holding a drink she had gotten on her way there.

"Really?" Riki raised his eyebrows, "You really stopped to get a drink when there's a killer on the loose"

Hyerin rolled her eyes as she sat down. "Yeah, it's not like I'm gonna starve myself"

"You seem to be in a better mood" Riki eyed her.

"Yeah," Hyerin started, "Dabin and I mad-"

"Didn't ask" He cut her off as he flipped through his notes, making the girl scoff.

Minutes turned to hours of them studying the case. They didn't have enough evidence especially since they didn't have the footage.

"You're leaving now?" Riki asked, seeing the girl pack up her things and get up.

"Don't want to worry my brother this time," She nodded her head, "Don't miss me too much"

He scoffed. "It's even better without you"

Hyerin then rolled her eyes and left the library, the sun setting behind her as she walked to her apartment.

Once she was home, she took a shower and cleaned up, like any other day.

Overall, she was happy that she made up with her friend and slept peacefully that night.

"Wake up, loser" Junil exclaimed, barging through the doors of her room.

"What the- It's too early!" Hyerin yelled groggily.

"It's almost seven o'clock," Junil replied as Hyerin still tossed and turned in bed, "Well, I'm off to work, don't stay out too late"

He then closed the door, leaving the room silent once again.

"Almost seven?!" She sprung out of bed, finally realizing that if she didn't hurry up, she was going to be late.

Hyerin got ready at the speed of light. She didn't want to mess up her perfect attendance.

Quickly shutting the door and locking it, she hurried her way to her university.

"Phew" She wiped her forehead once the gates of Hansang University were in her view.

She wasn't late, in fact, she was earlier than most students. She was just somewhat obsessed with coming to school early.

She entered her first class and sat on her seat. Students slowly started filling the class as usual.

The teacher finally came in and got ready to teach the class.

"That's weird," Hyerin let out, "Dabin isn't here yet"

She opened her phone to check the time and Dabin would have definitely been in class by then.

"What happened" She frowned.

A few minutes into the class and Dabin still hadn't arrived yet.

Yes, Dabin did have a habit of skipping classes but never the first one.

Before Hyerin could ponder any longer, Dabin came barging into the class.

"Sorry I'm late" She informed the teacher before marching down to her seat next to her best friend.

"Are you okay? What happened?" Hyerin questioned the girl.

She just shook her head and sat down, bringing out her notes and facing the teacher.

"Hmm" Hyerin sighed and went back to her studies.

The class went by very slowly, considering the fact that minutes and minutes went by and it still hadn't ended.

"The assignment will be on page-" The teacher announced but before the man could finish his statement, a noise from outside the building rang loudly enough to interrupt him.

The man stopped what he was saying, the sounds being too loud for him to continue as the students murmured and looked around in curiosity.

They had heard those sounds before. The sound of ambulance sirens.

"Is that..." Hyerin murmured, looking out the nearest window from her seat, even though they weren't on ground level.

A student flung open the door of their classroom, making everyone turn to him. The same student who had flung the door open twice before.

"Park Chaerim is dead!"
