"Why are you in the walls?? That's so goddamn weird!" You exclaimed, immediately moving farther back into the tunnel. Creating some room just in case you were about to be attacked.

"I can explain—you weren't supposed to find out so early!" The woman in the red cloak gasped.

It was the person you saw outside in the trees!

"Find out what!!-" You started before freezing up. The smell of coffee beans and your old ex-boyfriend hit you stronger than ever. Sizing her up you demanded answers.

"You need to tell me what the hell is going on here" The h/c woman said seriously. As the stranger, still shocked, stared up/down at you.

And that is how you ended up in the nook of a cave with a small fire in front of you. Sitting in a few blankets with a cup of warm tea in your hands. She explained that she was transformed from a member of a wolf pack to a human by an old man and his apprentice. How since you  all appeared things had been changing around the lodge.

She had answered all of your questions truthfully enough, even though there was an air of hesitancy. You didn't get any malicious feelings from the newly introduced Tatiana. It was more like she was trying her best in a shitty situation, which you could relate to.

"Normally, I would never have followed you because this sounds insane...But I recognized the scent of someone I used to know" You truthfully stated.

But you still kept a wall up not knowing what was in store from the still stranger you sat across from.

"Is Ein here at the lodge?" You directly asked, gripping your cup in anticipation. She pursed her lips looking at your stressed face.

"I only know of the Alpha of this place" Tatiana said carefully, then taking a sip of her drink. You let out a breath feeling slightly stupid. Irene, I wouldn't even know what to do if he was really here..

"That wasn't the answer you wanted?" She asked with an ear twitching.

"Honestly I don't know..Maybe it's all in my head all my diluted memories from before. And this is me wanting closure. He disappeared so long ago it's a reach that I'd even remember exactly how he smelled or even looks by now" You explained.

It felt good in a way to vent to someone that was practically a stranger. Knowing that you wouldn't face the same kind of judgment unlike if it was someone you already knew.

"It's all probably been some wild coincidence and my own misunderstandings" You sighed, resting your face in the palm of your hand. I worked so hard to get over him..Only to have me over eager at the chance of seeing him again. It's pathetic.

"I'm sorry about that" Was all Tatiana said looking at the ground. She had listened to your story with not an ounce of judgment, which you appreciated. You got some weird vibes from her after that every time you brought Ein up. It wasn't anything enough to bring up though. But just enough for you to pick up on.

"You know the Alpha has been wanting to see you for a while," Tatiana said carefully. As your eyebrows furrowed.

"What do you mean?" You responded, with the feeling of dread crawling all over you.

"It means you need to watch over everyone closely, especially your brother" She said in a bleak tone.

That confirmed the odd feeling you had since you stepped foot into the lodge. There was something seriously wrong going on and now it involved you in it. From missing items to people constantly disappearing.

"Why are you here Tatiana? Why are you helping me out when it sounds like it could get you in some serious trouble?" You asked, not wanting any harm to come to this girl. Or better yet a new ally.

"I don't want to see anyone else get hurt here, and your brother helped out a pup from the pack" She said determinedly. A part of you admired her for wanting to do the right thing in a shit situation.

"I also have a quick way of getting you out of here, if you promised to never mention all of this to anyone" Tatiana said with heavy emphasis on the 'anyone' part.

"Alright, but I also want you to show me around the tunnels. Just in case another person or I have to come down here again" You pointed out. Setting your cup down you figued a little over 30 minutes had passed since you adventure into between the walls.

"That might be risky if someone recognizes your scent, I can give you a map instead but it's hard to figure out exactly" Tatiana said, as you nodded your head in agreement. She stood up and grabbed a worn-out green back. After fumbling around in it for a moment she pulled out a rolled up piece of paper.

Your eyes widened as you opened it. "Tatiana this is so much better than a map, It's a blueprint of the hidden spaces in the lodge!".

"What?" She asked not understanding your excitement. You remembered that she had been human for a short amount of time.

"It's like a layout of the place and one that I'm able to read pretty well" Tatiana mouthed an 'o' in response. God I'm so happy I stuck to my major, this could not have come in handy at a better time!

For the first time since you got there you felt like you had the upper hand.

So I know it's been a hot second
