The light is blinding my eyes so I move my hand to stop it from reaching my eyes. The loud noise from the beat of music making my heart pound fast. The people dancing, talking and wandering around are like a wave. Ball gowns, tuxedos, and elegance were the student's wardobe for this night.
I roamed my eyes around to find my friends. We are having an acquaintance party inside our school's large gymnasium. I am late for tnis event, damn that traffic.
" Leika! Here, Leika! " I hear someone call my name.
I search for it and I smiled when I saw one of my friend. They are sitting in a circular table. My squad is here already and my arrival completes us all.
My eyes were pinned on Frey, who's busy talking to one of our friends. When he saw me, he smiled that made my heart thump louder. I sat next to him and they interrogated me, why I am late.
" Where's your date? " their eyes darted on me, curiously.
I shook my head of to give them sign I have non. They all groaned for my response and I just smiled.
It's not like no one offered me to be their date but I am just waiting for that one lad to ask me to be his date. Sadly, he did not that is why I came here, alone.
They offered me a wine and accepted it. I drank a little, then look at my friends who's busy talking and laughing.
" Hey you fine? " i look beside me and saw the concerned eyes of Frey.
I smiled and nod before saying a word.
" Yes. Just a little bit bored " I chuckled.
He stood up and offered me his hand.
" Can I have you for a dance? Let me ease your boredom. " he smiled.
Damn. I blush as I take his hand and he put one on my waist. He pulled me closer to him and I swayed my hands to his broad shoulders. The slow music suits our slow dance in the dance floor.
We talk as we dance. He made me laugh and even made me forget the people around. He gives me butterflies on my tummies, he made my heart pound, he made my knees weak, and most of all, he give me the feeling of being in cloud nine.
" You really love to make me laugh huh? " I said.
He smiled at me with his eyes smiling too.
" Of course. I love to see my friends happy so I make them laugh" the bitter feeling takes over me.
I smiled still, because I think I can't talk. Theres a lump in my throat, that keeps me from saying a word.
My imagination of having us in reality fades away as I saw someone, approaching towards us.
" Can I dance with my man? " she doesn't soud offending. She even sound friendly. The purity of happiness can be seen on her eyes.
I remove my hans from Frey's shoulders and distance my self from him.
" Thank you for dancing with me Frey. Enjoy your dance with Wrea. Bish, don't let go of my friend even if he's lunatic sometimes " I'll clap for myself later for joking even hurting.
They just laughed at me as I smiled at them. Keeping the pain inside my chest, as I look at them happily.
The spotlight hit both of them and it creates shadow behind us. My eyes darted on the shadow of Frey and the shadow of mine. Frey's huge built was enough to cover Wrea's shadow. It looks like their shadow became one.
I step few steps and look at the shadow again. I smiled bitterly looking at my shadow and Frey's. It looks like we're about to kiss. I exhaled to stop the illusion I am imagining.
The us we have were only exist in my imagination and to that shadow.
The us in a shadow will stay in that shadow. And once everything devoured by the darkness, that shadow will be gone. The us I always imagine will never come to reality, for you have a darling you love already.
